i am a Christian but lately i have been hearing the many similarities between God and Allah. and if they are the same, then why does it seem like Muslims and Christians are always at odds with each other?

Differences between the two religions began the day Abraham separated Ishmael and Hagar his mother from Isaac and Sarah, the progenitors of these faiths. Both religions believe in the same monotheistic God, but views on how to relate and otherwise commune with Him differ drastically. Christianity teaches that Jesus is the only way to God, Islam teaches that Jesus was not God Incarnate, but rather a prophet of Allah, who at the end of time will come back to proclaim Islam the true religion.

Christians and Muslims do worship the same God. Muslims just call him by a different name, Allah. The most noticable difference is the belief in Jesus. Muslims do not believe Jesus was God, but rather consider him a prophet. A fact that most people dont know, which I found out from a Muslim friend, is that Jesus is the most quoted person in the Qur'an. Answering why they are always at odds is difficult. A lot of other people on both sides are asking the same question and I dont think a sufficent answer can be given in this space.

Contrary to what many above me say, we do believe in the same God. Saying any different, like they dont believe in Jesus so the dont believe in God, is ignorant and extremist. Many people blame Islam for the terrorism in the world, saying that its evil they think Muslims are taught to kill people. This is obviously not true at all, and most of the accusers, some who have answered above, are Christian, and I believe they should re-read what Jesus said in the Bible, becaues a lot of people who claim to follow him blatently go against many of his teachings.

It was not always this way. In the Koran, Christians are considered people of the book, meaning we worship the same God as muslims. The problem is that when christians say that Jesus is God, the muslims hear that as we are saying that Jesus is God the Father and in turn then think we worship more than one God or are wrong in who Jesus really is. This concerns them and rightly so, we should never worship more than one God, the Father, also known as Allah in Islam and EL in Judaism.

Jesus is highly revered in Islam and they await His return as do the Christians. He is not considered God, but is considered higher a prophet than Mohammed, and all the other prophets.

Jews are also considered people of the book, yet recent events have cause great anger towards them because of the Palestinians. However, in the past, many times the Jews preferred the Muslims to rule over them as opposed to the Christians because the Muslims did not force them to convert and they were left alone, as the Koran says, they are people of the book and are to be dealt with justly.

Muslims do not believe that Jesus is the son of God so therefore, no! Essential Christian Doctrine is what it comes down to. God is going to ask a basic question, What did you do with my son? Muslims will say, he was a prophet. Christians will say I accepted him as my personal Lord and Savior and believe he died for me and my sins.

Theres a huge difference between the God Muslims worship and God Christians worship.

No we do not worship the same God! It is not possible! God doesn't encourage suicide and homicides all in the name of Allah and reincarnation.

The two are very distinct! You have to be careful, in these days many things are going to appear God like and Christian like, but you have to look very much closer.

Do no believe that they are the same!

Yes they are the same God and only evil people will try to make a distinction. the first Muslims were Hebrews and Islam is the religion practiced by all of the prophets since Adam. the reason for the fighting is for earthly resources and not gods glory.

We both believe in the same god. The two cultures are at odds over what laws to follow; over whose prophet is the one true prophet. Different sets of belief for the same god cause just as much problems, if not more, than having different gods in the first place

we muslims worship the same god that you christians worship
but that doesn't mean that we agree with you in every thing for a simple reason and thats because you made up extra things by saying that jesus is the son of god and thats not right .
we muslims worship god (allah) and him only because he created all humans including mohamad and jesus which are only messengers for islam .

Do Protestants and Catholics worship the same God?

Why does it seem like Protestants and Catholics are always at odds with each other?

The major is different world views. "Theological concepts, disciplines, ect."

A brother and a sister might view their parents way differently, but it is the same parent. It's debatable about worshipping a different God.
