I sold them for some magic beans.
Humor works better than being rude. You'll get your point across while seeming cool about the whole thing.

You can definitely get your point across to them without being rude. Just sit them down and be like, listen, we are all adults here and in a respectful, assertive manner tell them how you are frustrated that they already know where your children are but they ask anyways. Also, if it gets a little uncomfortable, just bring up a fun subject, maybe a fun memory or something like that. Dealing with family can be difficult at times, because you want to do anything but hurt them... Good luck!

Sometimes being a little rude is the only way to get the point across. Then hopefully after that they will never ask and maybe just say that they wish the kids could have been there.

I would say "aw man, I knew I was forgetting something" while giving my forehead a slap. "dumb, dumb, dumb"
It could be they miss the kids, and this is their way of hinting it to you, If you only see your family on weekends and the kids are with their dad, they don't get much chance to see them. Summer Vacation time, I suggest a get together on a weekday with your family so they can visit with the kids. Maybe even a sleep over or something.

How about "The gypsies came and took them".
No really, they do know where the kids are....they are just being nosy. Politely tell them "If the kids aren't with me, they are with their father....just like every other time" and then leave it alone. They just want to get the scoop. And it's probably because they care about you and are concerned for whatever reason....just be polite and put them in their place and refuse to talk about it.

If you don't mind telling them about your divorce, respond "I divorced my husband and the kids take turns coming with me and their father" are some variation thereof. If you mind telling them about your divorce, respond "I'm sorry, but I don't discuss such things with people I don't know" or "I'm sorry, but I'd rather not talk about it." You can also ignore the query. They are rude themselves to be nosy and ask where the kids are.

Unfortunately this can be annoying. Why don't you be honest with them and tell them it bugs you, or where a sign saying "their with their dad", or ask your kids to call your parents and say hello I will miss you but I'm going with my dad to have a visit. If they call before you get to their place this should avoid any questions.

kindly ask them to stop asking, because everytime they ask the answer remains the same, with their father. maybe you should alternate weekends or something, because maybe your family just really wants to see them. They probably keep hoping the answer will change.

You can turn it back on them. Like "Oh I'm sorry, did you forget that they go to their Dad's house on the weekend?"
