A few years ago. I never even knew that sodas went bad, but since the expiration dates, I had an outdated one and yuck all the sweetness was out of it and it was gross.

If you're looking for a specific date I don't know, but probably really early on since food goes bad pretty quickly when it's left in bad conditions and not treated with preservers. Our ancient ancestors probably realized this and had some sort of process for throwing away old rotten food.

I believe it started when Budweiser started putting "born on" dates on their beer. Now you see everyone putting it on their bottles.
