If you look at the scene closely you will notice that the hole in the ground is in the shape of a circle with protruding lines at equal sides. This indicates that the plane did a nose dive into the ground.

Having personal knowledge of this type of crash a majority of the debris will have penetrated the soil several feet. Therefore, very little will be left to the naked eye. It would appear that the crash site was there but the remains were not.

Because they truly didn't know what it was. If you have ever seen a plane crash site, it's difficult to tell at first glance exactly what happened. It's really gruesome too.

B'cuz, if they had explosives on the plane, it would have almost disintegrated the entire plane.

Because it was scattered, and most was destroyed and in the building. ( was there, it was a plane)
