Jesus told us that it would be this way.
"Blessed are you," He said in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew, "when people hate you because of me."
Notice that He didn't say "IF people hate you because of me." He said WHEN.
As such, being hated by some people for following Christ is, as He promised it would be, par for the course.
Christianity teaches against certain things that, unfortunately, many of us hold near and dear to our hearts and to our lifestyles -- sex, partying, materialism, and so on.
Christianity teaches certain things about morality that many people simply don't want to hear. These teachings don't jive with their desires and chosen lifestyles.
But rather than just simply "agree to disagree" with Christianity, they choose to attack it and denigrate it -- because in doing so, they are trying to validate their own desires and lifestyles as being "okay."
After all, what does a defense lawyer try to do to a witness who has just given damning testimony against his client?
He tries to discredit the witness. He tries to paint the witness in a less-than-favorable light. He tries to make the witness look like a bad person, or at least an unreliable and less-than-credible one.
People whose lifestyles conflict with Christian morals often do the same thing to Christianity -- that's the most effective way that they can show everybody else that their lifestyle really isn't so bad.

People hate Christianity because Christianity is a way of life that does not accept excuses. You cannot conform Christianity to your own personal version and disregard what the bible asks of you. If you're a non-Christian it can be really awkward because as a Christian you believe that you can only be saved and go to heaven if you believe in Jesus Christ as your savior. Sooo.. if you're a non-believer and Christians are bugging you about needing to get to know Christ, they're not doing that to harrass you. Usually (or what they should be feeling) they just have a genuine concern for friends/family, and other people and just want to pass on the good news. This good news is that although you may mess up and sin, Jesus will save you from your sins, all you have to do is have faith.
So my guess is that people just don't understand why Christians are asking questions and trying to 'push' their faith on others. I hoped this helped and gave you some insight. =)

I believe the reason is because people don't see the things that Jesus spoke about, or how he behaved in " Christian " people. What do we see in this day and time? Christianity has been turned into a political force and most people hate politics. Jesus spoke about charity, love for one another, and humility. If there has been one thing that has hurt the public opinion of Church's more than anything else is there lack of humility. Mega-Churches, T.V. shows, million dollar bank accounts and more. While we see this on our televisions every night, we also see starvation, disease, and hopelessness. Where is this church whose leader and example feed thousands at one time. Who healed people constantly and who never preached before the people were feed and rested. This may be one reason why.

One way to think of it is this way. In 1960 94% of the US called themselves Christians with over 80% going to Church every Sunday. Then came the question everything generation that game in the later 60's and early 70's. The so called free thinkers did not go to church and neither did their kids and we are getting in some cases to the third generation of families not going to church, Many people in the US and the other western countries do not have a Church going heritage, therefore they can not understand Christ's teaching. To these unchurched. moral teaching means they can not do what they want to do, when they want to do it. Is it any wonder all of these people go around saying I am more spiritual then religious, or I can dance around a field holding hands with flowers in my hair and worship nature. To them I say the Spirit is the Holy Spirit, so if you are Spiritual then you must worship God, because The Holy Spirit is a part of The Most Holy Trinity.

To hate an entire group is silly - however, Christians seem to be very good at adamantly judging and condemning groups of people and actions, and that makes them easier to 'hate'. Thinking people have trouble justifying Jesus/religious philosophies because there is no human logic. Christians and other faiths believe what they are told or what fills a void in their life and often do no self-exploration for fear of going to 'hell'. It's easy to 'hate' the close-minded as well as the open minded. Aren't there Christians that 'hate' Islamic people? I’m not a Christian or Muslim or anything, but hell, why can’t there be a Jesus, Allah, Buddha or what have you? I’m open to exploring all of it. Now, you’d never hear Christians or any other ‘cult of same thinkers’ opening their minds to any possibilities. They want you to hear them out, but they're closed off to anything another 'non-believer' says becuase of their 'faith'.

It is because they are afraid of what they are not used to. It is like eating something new. There are so many people telling others what they "think" is true of the faith. Remember when you were little and your friends explained sex to you and it wasn't even close to the truth? Religion is so misunderstood that it is safer for you to just believe and not ask why. If someone asks you about your religion, then answer, but do not volunteer the info. This is not acceptable in this day and age.

Might have something to do with the fact Christians historically murder non-Christians when they are given the power to do so.
The public face of Christianity is so arrogant, hateful and obnoxious, a better question would be why would anyone want to belong to such an ignorant hate group?

Probably because many Christians don't behave very Christ like witch is what the word means. I have been guilty as well. The actions of some can turn away many. It's some thing to think about and perhaps when we realize this it will help us to change.

If you've encountered someone who hates Christians it's probably because they have come across a ton of hypocritical ones. The ones that preach love, tolerance, and acceptance, but practice hate, prejudice, and exclusion. Those are the ones that really give Christianity a bad name and there are a TON of them out there.

It's not that people necessarily hate Christians, it's that people hate that Christians are always trying to preach and push their religions on other people. Christians seem to be so judgemental and tell you that you are going to hell if you aren't "saved" and things like that. They can't just live and let live, they always have to try to force their beliefs on other people. That's the major problem that most people have with Christians.

I have no "hate" in my heart for any person. I am a very spiritual person so it does pain me to see that the majority of people claiming to be christians are not very good people at all. I do not believe in organized religon and it soon will the end of the world, but I judge people by their actions not their beliefs, and unfortunately of the religons I come in contact with regularily christians are not very good people.
