Last time I checked, they weren't on the defense.
If attacks from "terrorists" decrease, so does the number of raids by coalition troops. That's the key to getting the U.S. out of there, but that's not what they really want. Their goal is to humiliate and counter the U.S. presence and Iraqi government, and restore Iraq back to the tyranny that existed before.
Just don't see how that's "defending" anything...

First, because most people there are idiots. But also, if defending your area or town means going against the president's beliefs, the members of the news media immediately blame you so that they can avoid being seen as "left-wing."

they call them terrorists because they pretend to be defending their area while they launch rockets at other people's areas from behind a human shield. So if someone shoots at their rocket launcher, the innocent people get killed. That's how they terrorize their own people. They also call them terrorists because they do not acknowledge the other people's right to exist. Stop watching liberal news chanels.

Defending? If you call cutting the heads off of your own people defending your nation, you are as warped as this question. You need to read what is really going on in Iraq and who these "defenders" are to appreciate why we are still "occupying" Iraq.

If "defending" your town involves any of the following than it is considered terrorism.
- targeting non-military people/sites
- under no officially recognized military leadership(accountability)
- no recognition of international war treaties or organizations
Pretty simple. So if you are referring to Hamas or the like, than you can see they have the trifecta here, hence terrorists.
