is this just a name with no meaning? It's not rude or anything. He says he's used the name for years and hasn't bothered to change it. Is he just being lazy? He uses this name as a password for other things too. Should I be upset?

I wouldn't be upset if I were you, unless there are other reminders of the ex around... Guys really can be lazy about that stuff, they don't think like girls (meaning, seeing it as a reminder or a pining for the one who is gone) - for him it is probably something that he just never took the time to change.
someone should have told us that girls over analyze things too much. men are simple (not meaning that in any degrading way - girls should be so lucky)...

If your bf is using his ex's name as a password and naming things after her you should ask him to stop because it bothers you if he doesnt do any thing about it or doesnt pay attention try finding out exactly what he does all day. I dont think he is repecting you when he names more things after his ex than you!

Powerless. You cannot control someone elses thoughts and preferances. Don't waste too much time on a "pet name", there are too many other relationship issues to deal with that will actually benefit you. I'm sure it is harmless. Don't let jealousy of any form come into your relationships, no good will come from it.

I don't know how others would feel but I would think that he hasn't had closure with the ex yet and still has feelings for her. He doesn't respect you enough to change that might bother me some!

ouch, but if he's used it for years then i guess you should probably just deal with it...however if it bothers you it bothers you and thats all there is to it. tell him you want to get a puppy and you want to name him (fill in the name of an ex here). see how he feels.

If he has been using this name for a long time, I wouldnt worry. It would be something that would upset me if he started using it only recently

Does he know it bothers you? Its not that hard to change a password. Talk to him, see what comes out of it.

I wouldn't want my man to have any part of his ex - nor should HE want anything to do with HIS ex. I would tell HIM to get over it (not you - you would be over it if he fixed the peoblem). If he knows it bothers you it should have been done a long time ago.
