...sorry to say, depression affects the whole family. How about family therapy? Or, maybe your loved one has a chemical imbalance that is a medical problem rather than an emotional problem, and depression is a symptom. Good luck.

To be honest you can't. You may can show them what life would be like if you where not around, but the only true thing is they wanting to be helped.

I battle depression everyday, and to be honest I don't have the money to go see professional help. Most reasons people don't want help is that they are scared to death in dealing with all the emotions they want to forget. Thats why they don't want to go, or they don't think it will help. Or for me it's I can beat this on my own. I nw know I can't. If my life was differen't than chances are Iwouldn't be so depressed, but than again it's only up to me to change that. So who's fault is it. Mine alone.

Bottom line you can't force anyone to do anything they don't want . Unless it's life threatning. Only time to take action.

If your unhappy with them and say you better get help for this or that reason, or I am leaving etc. After all it's you that suffers along with that person as well. If they are un willing than you have to choose what is best for yourself. Only control what you can control if not move on, and hope the best for them. Do all you can if still nothing, don't loose yourself in the process.

Unfortunately, we cannot force anyone into therapy. All we can do is inform them about the options that are available, therapy, counseling, medication, etc. Let them know that others have been helped. Listen to them. Do not judge. If they become or are suicidal, call 911.

You can't do anything about it. If they don't want help they are not going to get it. Trying to talk them into it just makes them not want to even more. People who are depressed hate it when people try to tell them what to do.
