Great topic!

I am amazed that there are so many adults who do not consider some of the things they say or do not say, as a lie. For instance: sometimes people make up stories and tell it for fun. It may be a hunting story, fishing story, etc. This is done as a fantasy. The important thing to remember is that if you tell the story...you and the others must identify it is not really true....or it is a lie. Another example of a lie people do not always admit as lying is...when someone states something they think is true and then discover later that it is not true. The person really should then rectify the situation and admit they said something and found out it was not the truth. When a purposeful untruth is told, it is an outright lie. It is meant to deceive. This leads to disappointing others, others never really belive you and they eventually stop trusting you. Then the time may come and you may be telling the truth...but too late...others don't believe you even when you do tell the truth. Some people actually believe that the only way a lie is told is in that manner. Not true! You can lie with your actions. You may cause a person to believe something not true by acting a certain way. (Example; child breaks a vase and throws it out and pretends not to know anything about it.) A lie can be done by being silent. You may cause someone to believe something by saying nothing. (Example: a mother asks the children who broke a window, and all the children know, but no-one tellls anything). The cycle of lying usually continues when one lies. The next thing one knows is they lie to cover another lie and so on. Most intelligent people, know when someone is lying to them. It doesn't change anything...except the credibility of the one who lies. Another form of lying is not telling a complete truth. Any form of not telling a complete truth or an admission of a complete truth in words or actions is a lie.
I honestly do not intentionally lie. However, about two weeks ago we had company and this person asked me something and I did not want to go into it so I lied. When the company left. my husband said to me ..."why did you lie?" I reallly had to stop and think about it. I am a woman of value. I work hard to practice what I believe in. I am an honest person. I try hard to use tact and not lie. I usually would reply to someone who asked a personal question that I did not feel like answering with something like...why do you ask? I usually try to find an answer that will not offend the other person, but will also allow me to keep my personal life personal without lying. Sometimes, I like everyone find myself in a place I don't like to be. I feel dirty or shamed when I do that. Long story short...I felt guilty and called the person up and explained it. No one is perfect. There is not a sole alive who has not told a lie at one time or another. I can honestly say I do not lie on a daily basis, but sometimes I do find myself bordering the ethical line. I want people to trust me, I strive to be honest and keep integrity....but it is a daily struggle to be in tune with complete and open honesty!

I never purposely lie. I am an honest person at heart. I have been known to be wrong. I also do my best not to exaggerate, for that, to me, is dishonest. Even when I answer any of these questions on yahoo, I answer truthfully from my heart. Since I don't know if I write it so it is perceived correctly, I ask God if it's OK to send. Every once in a while, I need to correct. That's with the answers, voting, thumbs up & everything. This is therapy for me. I can just write as I truely I believe from my heart. It doesn't matter if people think I'm lieing. God knows my heart.

I don't lie. there is no reason to lie. You will have to face the truth at some point. Why lie when it's going to come out anyway? I hate lying. Oh, I also follow no religion. I don't need some silly book of fiction (bible) or some child rapist (preacher) in a box (church) to tell me to not lie. It's just wrong and I don't lie unless there is an absolute reason to lie and that's very rare.

Is this a joke?
I lie everyday; don't I lie in bed?
We all lie in bed unless no one sleeps.

Actually I don't think I've told a lie this month. I try to be honest always.
I think why most people lie is because we don't pray and fast and ask God to help us overcome these obstacles.
The Bible tells us not to lie(Exod.20:16 & Rom.13:9).

Rev.21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers,....and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

I try to prevent lying and this becomes a very difficult task each time I am in the presence of other people. We all want to be praised and recognized for whatever reason (usually fleshly reasons), but you become the biggest liar there is if you "over exaggerate" a lot. And I know people think that stretching the truth, telling white lies (whatever that means), or exaggerating isn't considered lying but in my book it is. So I try not to indulge in any of the above. That keeps you somewhat clean of telling a bold face lie!

I tend to not lie, I have found lying makes things worse. And I expect the same treatment, If you don't want to hear the truth do not ask me.

For intense One of my ex's asked me why I don't go down on her. I told her straight faced because you stink ever heard of duoche? Plus your to hairy.

I know that was harsh, but avoding it made me mad because Iknew she wanted it, so she did and things where cool after that.

Word of advice do not lie if at all possiable. It's gets you no where and the trust is something the world is lacking.

35, but I work in tech support, so it's part of my job.

"No, sir, I don't know when the update will be out."

"That's right, your file can't be hacked."

"Of course secure sites can't be broken into."

"I can't see that database from here."

But if I didn't say that, I'd be fired, so what's a guy to do? It's true from a point: the update might be delayed, the site never has been hacked and we test it for security holes regularly, secure sites are extreemly difficult to break into, and while I can see the database, I haven't been trained in what to do with it, so it may not be technically true, but it's true to the point of giving the customer the best expirience on the call.

A lot, I tell many white lies. Today someone at work asked how I was and I said 'fine.' Actually, I was sooo tired and achy from volleyball. My first lie of the day. Everyone lies a bit. We have to to maintain our social graces.
