That depends on the preschool. Most will take kids at around 3 years of age as long as the child is potty trained. The key is potty training. But check with the preschools in your area for specifics because it changes depending on your school district.

In California the cut off date is children must turn 3 on or before December 2. Some private preschools will extend the date if your child is potty trained. The preschool I am sending my son to extended the date to allow children born on or before 12/31.
Some day care centers will often do some education, but not quite as formal as preschool, many of those places do not require the children to be potty trained.

You should contact your local Office of Education. Each preschool is different. My boys were going to attend the same school but my 3 1/2 year old wasn't allowed to attend this past fall because his BD was AFTER Dec 2nd. Now the same preschool is moving their BD cut off to match the school district they are located in. Changing the cut off from Dec to Sept, therefore limiting it even more. There are however preschools around me that take them at 2 yrs 9 mnths & potty trained. So let your fingers do the walking. Good luck.

With a December 2003 birthday, your daughter could already be in preschool in many places. Look for a 2 or 3 day a week program that changes diapers. Many November and December 2003 babies entered in the fall of 2005, so you should have no problem finding a school in your area. Now, about paying for it...

Usually the cut off date is Dec. 2ND. Because that is the cut off for the elementary schools. Your child would be in a 2 year old class , if they have one. Challenger and Stafford are very academic schools. Are sure you want to do that to your child? My daughter went to Challenger for a few weeks and hated it. They had very little play time and a lot of sitting doing work. Totally not appropriate for that age. Children before 4 and 5 years old need to play . that is how they learn best. They need to learn to socialize and you don't do that sitting at desks. Please reconsider schools. Anyone with any child care degree knows that academics are inappropriate for Young children. Those schools are just trying to make money on the competitiveness in your area, They are not thinking of what is best for the children.

My kids were born April 2003 and they've been in a preschool program since Fall of 2005. It depends on the place and program. Churches have younger limits usually. Some programs (like the ones my guys are in) help you with the potty training, and there were even some kids in their class who were in diapers still. They were in a "Young 2s" group, which was the youngest.

Here where I live Children at aged 2 went to 2 day preschool which is just two days a week. 3 year olds went three days a week. 4 years olds went 4 days a week. It sounds all to confusing but the program actually worked for our daughter and got her ready for her first year at school!!!
