I Samuel tells how David and Jonathan met secretly in high grasses with the aid of a page, would disrobe, hug and kiss. II Samuel quotes David at Jonathan's death, "Thou Jonathan, the love I had for thee far exceeds the love I ever had for any woman".
Joseph, earthly father of Jesus by God's choosing, was "born of the lineage of David"!

What a bunch of bull sh*t. Your quote from I & II Samuel is completely and positively incorrect. Your statements are slander and will be treated as such. Your goal of bringing the gays and the atheist down further is probably working, but a person of religion know the contexts of the bible, and will only sing higher praises

You know it would be so much easier if people would just take the time out to actually read the Bible and not just misquote it all over the place. G-d took the time out to create the world we are able to live in (abet it took 7 day’s but still). That also goes for most of the responders. Read first - study second - ask a scholar third (if Christian try Jesuits if Jewish try a rabbi).
In general NO LANGUAGE translates word for word so what something might say in one language may not be able to be translated in another for instance there are two words for virgin in Greek but only one in English. So in order to really understand the Bible and to have truly read the Bible you would have to have read the New testament in Greek and the Old Testament in Aramaic or Hebrew. Which I am so sure most people have never done or considered.
To take any negative action against another human, without knowing the "true" story, is just wrong on so many levels.
And BTW, consider this - Why would G-d create something that has no purpose. Also this World from G-d's point of view is a perfect world.

I think you are taking a lot for granted in your translation of this situation but even at that, what is the problem with having someone that sins in your family line? Look at your ancestry and see if there is anyone that ever did anything that was wrong even in your eyes. I am sure you will find someone that did. Does that make you any less of a person? Just shows the human nature. For anyone that thinks God is not against the homosexual, read Revelation 21:8. It is not the homosexual that God is against but the sin that he/she is doing. If they choose to be a homosexual, they will not be in Heaven. Bible is very clear on that. Many places it speaks of the homosexual as an abomination and will not be in Heaven so for those that say God does not hate the sin, better read the bible. It is a sin and sin God hates. I do hope you do not love a brother or it may be taken as you have with David, that you are a homosexual. Just because someone loves someone more than a woman does not necessarily mean that that person is a homosexual.

This would be assuming that God is anti-gay. Of course, He is not. I do believe that He is not happy with how society makes it so hard for gay people to live their lives. My father (born in 1919, very old school) used to say that he never understood why they referred to homosexuals as "gay" because they weren't happy and many ended up killing themselves. This was back in the early to mid 1900s where living such a life was pure hell. It has gotten better but it still isnt anywhere near what God would want for us.

I am fully aware of what the bible says about laying with a man as he were a woman means and the mention of abomination. I personally believe that all the laws in the old testament have a spiritual significance, and this one being that we should not mix spiritual matters of one nature in with another, opposite nature.

Bottom line is that God created us, He knows there are gays and lesbians and He knows why. Nobody here on earth knows why, so until someone has a clear, true answer to that, I am gonna stick with God, believing He is indeed Love and that He loves everyone.

People need to get over the "abomination" quote and if they dont, they need to stick to every other rule in the old testament as well. Lets see how far that gets them with God. Gays will be in heaven quicker than "legalists".

Well, it is a fact that the David and Jonathan had to have a page shoot an arrow in the sky to let David know when it was safe to meet Jonathan in the high grasses. Jonathan's father knew something was going on between the two of them and even tried to kill David by throwing a javelin at him. Many say that there was nothing sexual going on between the two but the bible clearly says they removed articles from their body, and hugged and kissed each other, proclaiming their love for each other, especially Jonathan. He was very vocal about it, and this probably accounts for Saul's behavior towards David. Jonathan seem to not try and hide his affection to David. As far as the II Samuel account, many today try to say that it is not sexual love. David must have been afraid people would say that which is why he was careful to bring gender in the picture. He clearly stated that he loved Jonathan greater than he ever loved ANY woman! I also find it funny that Jesus NOT ONE TIME made any statement about same sex love. There is some speculation about his involvement in the Shamantic tratidion however which involves special same sex expressions of love adn admiration. Also, being an avid reader of Hebrew and Greek, I can assure you also that most of the biggoted teachings of modern day religion DO misliterate scripture. Case in point. The verse in Leviticus which states that it "is an abomination for a man to lie with another man as with a woman" is stated in a book and chapter talking about the evils of idolotry. One of those evils closely related to idolotry at that time was PROSTITUTION. The word "woman" in that particular verse is more accurately quoted as "is an abomination for a man to lie with another man as with a prostitute". Have you ever stopped to think if you were God, how would you best control over population of your new earth you just created? Have you ever wondered why gays insist they did not CHOOSE to be gay? Have you ever wondered why God put the gland of sexual stimulation of the male (prostate) right next to the anal tract? Have you ever wondered what it would be like when we all get in Heaven and we see Jesus hugging all his gay converts to Christianity? Have you ever wondered if the biggotry against gays is a trick of Satan to get the Christian's true focus..."Love thy neighbor as thy self"? Have you ever wondered which is worse, the lusting mind of a married Christian man toward another woman or the lusting mind of a man in a committed gay relationship toward another man outside that committment?

OK first and foremost lets get the "gay" thing out of the question by stating.... in the book the christians call the "Word of God", which includes the Cannon book of JEWISH law and the testament of the man called Jesus of Nazareth, homosexuality was never ever mentioned as a sin. Want proof? Stop listening to old men on pulpits and actually study what christians call their "book of rules". Not once does the old testament mention homosexuality. Here are the most common myths.

#1. Sodom and Gammorah... not homosexuality as the christians believe it is...but actually the raping of angels God sent to seek out good men on behalf of Lot. (read more than one line in your book people, don't pick and choose). Angels are not men, angels are not human, angels have no gender (think about that one since there are no angel babies)

#2. Deuteronomy. A book of Rabbinical law (laws set down by Rabbi's for the jewsish people, not God's laws sent by Him) which was written because for 40 years people were in the desert doing things that did not help re-populate the nation of Israel, so if it did not help in prolonging or procreating it was wrong. The same book says you can not touch a woman within 7 days of her menstration cycle and the taking your pet Fido to the vet will get you killed.

#3. The Book of Romans. Written to ROME who had not accepted christianity as the state religion yet. Man shall lie with man, woman with woman etc. blah blah et all. Romans were known to have a free sexual society. The Roman armies were known for encouraging lovemaking between men in service to create a deeper bond. So in context you can see why this was added.

And last but not the least is the fact that the Hebrew language never had a word that translates to Homosexual, they do however have a word for "Male Prostitute" which was used in the cannon book of law. Furthermore, Greek..which most of the new testament was translated from, did have a word for homosexuality and guess what... IT NEVER APPEARED in the text.

What you are reading is MAN'S version of letters written a long time ago. The original text cease to exist ( ask any scholar) the oldest known biblical text are from around 400 AD, as in 4 centuries after Jesus lived and these were transcriptions from the "Church" written and copied by scribes.

So to get to the point. Homosexuality is not important to Christians, it should have never been. If it were that important then why are heterosexuals chastized more than 258 times in the "living word of God" and homosexuals aren't? Jesus NEVER mentioned it, and God did not scribe it in stone... so.....

I am an ex-christian. If God answered prayers, and Loves, and Wants ALL his children to enter heaven.... then at 24 He should have taken his "sin" of homosexuality away from me and saved me the hassle. 13 years of prayer and even excorcism of the gay demons did not work...... hmmmm just maybe there is a real Truth out there besides this fake, useless book people believe in without real cause except to keep from entering damnation....

There is. I am Devine, I am God, I am the Love the Way and the Light into my self guidance of all that I AM. I have a destiny that is far greater than what I can see... and it isn't following MAN and his Myths. Love is not excusive to Jesus or God, they don't OWN it or else no one could really ever "Love" anyone else. I am Love in it's most nurishing form.. the self.

Thank you and Nameste

Jonathan and David had to meet secretly because Jonathan's father, Saul wanted to murder David. They were not going away on some secret homosexual vacation... Hugging and kissing another man was not deemed homosexual, and just because he loved a man, does not mean that it was anything more than just a great, brotherly friendship.

Secondly, God would be considered 'anti-gay' just by the fact that homosexual acts are a sin. The verse goes like this, "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." Leviticus 18:22 So I suppose if one was a homosexual and do not lie in bed with another man and engage in sexual acts, you would not be sinning....

WOW ! talk about out of context David was not gay 1st. If you actually studied the text it was a kiss on he cheek which is common in the middle east. they exchanged their garments as part of a covenant they made between them...Best friends can have a soul bond and not be gay. Just because today's society and you are so homo phobic that they would see this as gay bonding when it is not. It evens states their love far exceeds a woman's love in Greek that is agape love.
That is a Godly love selfless love putting the others needs above your own to the point of death. If you keep reading that is proven later. next you will being saying the love feast in Corinthians was orgies right?
Study the word of God before you decide to make a case thanks...

Wait a minute. OK, David most likely loved Jonathan in a way that was different then he had ever loved any woman. Jonathan and David were very close to eachother. That does not mean that they were gay!

If this is a sample of your Biblical knowledge, you need to study God's word in a new and enlightened frame of mind. I am sure you were trying to be funny, but it certainly is not funny. King David has been called the man who was after God's own heart. Study your Bible for a reason other than the stupidity you have shown by this question.

Jesus loves you.

Maybe the church & certain Christians are looking at God and gays through over-sexed eyes, gays are not just sexual creatures and there is too much emphasis on bodily functions and sexual acts altogether, it is dehumanising and frankly childish, Jesus never commented on it, anyway we have no actual words of Jesus or God.

I don't think the Bible is a worthy item to base any notions of what God may or may not dislike if he existed at all.

I see nothing that convinces me God is anti-gay nor even that he exists.
