Usually it's about 30 days - it all depends on how much you smoke though. The more you smoke, the longer it stays in. If you only smoke occasionally, there's a possibility that it will only stay in your system for about 24 to 48 hours.

You are what is called a heavy user. Pot, unlike alcohol, is fat soluble so when you smoke a lot it gets stored in your fat tissues. Alcohol on the other hand is water soluble and your body can not store it. So you could be falling down drunk at midnight and by noon the next day be sober. (You will have a hang over but you will be sober.) So with heavy use, you got a lot of pot stored in your fat. Then over a period of time, it slowly leaches back out from your fat into your blood. Eventually it gets metabolized and cleared from your system. I would suspect that if smoked as much as you say and quit on 14 DEC and they did a urine test on the 21st you would not have passed the test except you drank a ton of water. They noted that and now want blood. Since blood testing is far more accurate than urine testing, I would think they pretty much will nail you for pot use. Do not be surprised if they decline to hire you and also decline to say specifically why they are declining to hire you.

30 Days

Traces of cannabis will usually stay in a person's system for about a week. If you use it a lot, or have a lot in one session, it stays in the system longer. It's fat soluble, meaning that it lodges itself in the fat cells of the body, in the brain, the liver, and the kidneys. Consequently, a heavy cannabis smoker will find that it can be detected sometimes a month after use.

It'll show up in drug tests for up to a month and a week. Therefore to pass a drug test you need to allow 6 weeks, to be sure, as it varies from person to person.

However, the effects on your liver will be there for a long time. Your hair, nails and so on - will reflect the input to your system for years ahead.

So, beware, you may pass a blood test but others tests can bust you.
