I don't believe we are here by an accident of nature. There appears to be some design and engineering efforts afoot.

Evolution is not an accident of nature. It is a considered, scientific idea. There are many who believe and many who do not. That is the nature of science.

No it is not. First of all look and see how complex the basic components of life are. Lipids, Amino Acids, Carbohydrates, and Nucleic Acids. Next look at the what i would take for the these parts to combine together at the same time, in the same place in a whole world filled with water (Which if we study water we see that water is both essencial and toxic to life. Look at how all cells continually fight against the forces of water, so this means that even before life could exist there would have to be complex "CELLULAR" processes before the first cell could come together). Then for these nonliving parts to all of a sudden start carrying out complex cellular processes. Come on. All that to form a cell. Then to evolve and become all the different life forms that we see today. Also that present a problem. If genetic mutation is the source of new species and such, name one mutation that is good. Not sickle cell anemia. No that is not a good mutation, sure it fights malaria but look at all the other problems it causes. There are so many problems with evolution an the basics of the theory that it can not be believed my any person that is truthful to themselves.

To the above questions that say that evolution is a proven fact they do not tell you the whole story. Yes we see changes over time but one species does not turn into another, it is adaptation or microevolution. And scientist have done experiments that show that we can create amino acids or other cell parts but, that is not it, the show a piece is possible so then the rest of the process happened and cannot be questioned. Who are they kidding, Come on,

Firstly "proof" is something that is meaningless outside of maths and formal logic. Science does not work on proofs, it works on corroborating evidence.

Secondly the word "fact" in science has a special meaning. It means an observation. Things that are facts in science are observations.

Thirdly the word "theory" does not mean "less than a fact". Theories NEVER become facts. As I said above, facts are observations. Theories are the models that are proposed to explain these observations. In other words theories are mechanisms.

In order for a theory to be accepted it has to account for all of the facts. More than this it has to be falsifiable. It has to make predictions of future observations which can be looked for to test the validity of the theory. If the observations are made then the theory continues to be accepted, if they are not then more work has to be done.

There are many facts (observations) about biological life. These observations are explained by the Theory of Evolution (the mechanism).

For example it is a fact that an unambiguous nested hierarchy can be created for all known life based on morphology. This is strong evidence for Common Descent. It is also true that almost exactly the same nested hierarchy can be created from genetic evidence. This is even stronger evidence for common descent (because we have two forms of evidence that agree).

Now the theory comes in. There needs to be a proposed mechanism for Common Decent to occur. The mechanism is Descent by Modification coupled with Natural Selection.

Hopefully this explains exactly what a fact and a theory is and how this relates to the TOE.

Evolution is not a proven fact, it is only a theory. I would say there is not REAL evidence of evolution in any true scientific studies. Sciene would not admit this though, and would rather you believe blindly that we have all evolved from a single cell plasma into all the different species we see on our planet today. How obsurd to think that a giraffe grew a long neck because it wanted to reach the tops of the trees, or that humans slowly began to grow less hair on their bodies because we began to wear clothes.... and that is exactly what the theory of evolution is trying to say. How much easier it is to think that God created us all specifically to look and act the way He designed us.
Science states that everything has to have a first "cause", so in order to buy into evolution or the "big bang theory" you also have to ask what caused it in the first place. Where did this mass of dust come from? Who created it?, and who or what caused the "BANG"?

The only proven fact about evolution is that it is a crock of lunacy! It takes a lot more faith to believe in that than to believe that an intelligent God created everything. Everywhere you look you can see design in things that no way could have come from a freak of nature as they say. Evolution, is a bunch of hogwash and any intelligent person can see it is nothing more than a theory, as Darwin himself said. People just want to push God out so there will be no more mention of Him and maybe He will go away. Trouble is, it will be the theories that fall in the end and God will stand tall.

Has it been at least as rigorously demonstrated as the average scientific position? Yes, across many different fields of science. From a scientific perspective, evolution has withstood innumerable attempts to knock it down.

Is it irrefutable? No, science doesn't provide such an absolute assurance of anything.

But, there are religious people who have no problem with the idea that god intelligently designed us, but used natural processes (big bang, evolution, etc) rather than magic, to produce us.

This certainly seems to be an ad hoc argument, but it works for a lot of people.

The occurence of Evolution and Common Descent is fact.

The mechanisms by which Evolution occur (Natural Selection, Mutation, etc.) and the postulations of Phylogenetic pathways are the theoretical explanations.

Theories in Science are explanations of accumulated facts, so saying something is a "theory" makes no statement on it's validity.

For the Theoretical foundations of Evolution, Natural Selection and Mutation have been evidenced very well with numerous tests and applications in todays Genetics and Biotech avenues.

It is far from a proven fact, but sadly, it is taught in schools as if it were factual. There are more holes in the "theory" of evolution than Swiss cheese. Like has always produced after like. We breathe in oxygen and breathe out CO2...plants breathe in CO2 in and breathe out oxygen and to not see design in that is ridiculous. Of coarse there is design in all of "creation"...it all works perfectly together. There is complexity and design in an atom even. Also, this theory contradicts the LAW of Thermo-dynamics. That should tell Scientists something. Also, many confuse adaptation with evolving. There is a HUGE difference.

That depends on how you define "proven fact" The reality of everything in science is that it is never a "proven" fact, but rather accepted as a fact, such as gravity. It never fails in our experience or experimentations. If an experiement is duplicated over and over, then it is accepted as scientific fact.

Evolution has been demonstrated in laboratories over and over again, so in that sense, yes, it is accepted as a fact. But this has little or nothing to do with theology. That is where so many people get their panties in a wad. The Bible says that God created the heavens and the earth. I beleive he did that. How did he do it? Any reasoning I can give for that is just speculation, and nothing I can back up with Scipture. The "fact" I know is that God created it, and I will leave it at that.

The theory of evolution is as proven as humanly possible. There is tons of evidence. There has been numerous experiments. All the facts point towards evolution as the main mechanism for diversity in species. On the other hand we have creation theory. It has zero evidence. The evidence we do have does not support it at all. And it does little to explain diversity or the continual evolution we see in smaller organisms. ( Yes, we can see evolution at work in smaller organisms)
