I haven't flossed for about a week and a half because I finished my floss and kept forgetting to buy more. Anyway, today I finally remembered and I just flossed my teeth......and the gums are bleeding a LOT. Not between every single tooth, but in several different areas there's a lot of blood. I'm bleeding more now than I did when I first started flossing a few months ago.

Is that bad? Should I be worried about it? I bled for a while when I started flossing, but it had pretty much stopped apart from a couple of places, now I seem to be bleeding all over again, and bleeding more than I did then.

Don't worry. This is normal at times. You might want to check with your dentist that your gums are OK, but I bet he or she will say the same as me.

The secret is to go gently. Very very gently. Try not to leave it so long between flossing. But whatever you do, do it very gently.

Your gums become sensitive when not massaged every day. Bleeding occurs when too much pressure is being used or if the gum becomes aggitated. Flossing alot of the time produces this effect. Try flossin "gently" every day getting in the crevice of the tooth instead of contacting the gum directly. To help prevent further bleeding brush in soft circles on the gum line. If that does not help see a dentist about having possible gingavitis which is a gum disease but not serious. Can be treated with perscribed mouth wash.

You probably don't need to worry. You're most likely just flossing way too hard, maybe trying to compensate for not flossing for a while. Floss VERY gently and rinse well, using some salt water to soothe the gums. If it continues for a week or so, please contact your dentist.

Its very likely your gums have not adjusted to the flossing, which I have the same problem. I went to the dentist and he said that just keep on doing it and the bleeding will eventually subside. It just takes your gums awhile to get adjusted again. Best of Luck of with This Problem.

Sounds bad. Maybe your gums are sensitive or they haven't been getting such a thorough clean. I do sometimes get my gums bleeding a little when I floss but not a lot. If it is a lot and/or it continues you are going to need to contact your dentist. Hope it soon settles down.

Your gums are probably just gettign used to you flossing again. If this keeps up though, you should probably go see your dentist again. This happened to me when I started flossing. FI you are still bleeding, then you might have gingivitis. Get this checked by your dentist. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!!!!!

This can happen when you haven't flossed for a while.
See how it goes.
