this time I will not talk about mokeys[monkeys]
I am open for all opinions and I want to see what others believe if they don't in God.
Where do think you came from?
Is everything in the bible a myth?
Where do you go after you die if not heaven or hell?
I have my own answers which I will keep to myself.
but what have you come to learn along the way of life that answers your questions about where humans came from, how long has earth been around
please tell me what you have told yourself all these years about God, evolution, and time itself
I want to know
I may and most likely WILL disagree with most of all of them but make yourself heard in this gigantic world
I want to see what other things are supposed to answer these questions

I don't believe in PAINTERS, yet there are paintings to prove that they exist.

I don't believe in BUILDERS, yet there are buildings to prove that they exist.

I don't believe in a CREATOR, yet there is a creation to prove that He exists.

Use your logic in those statements. Why are you here? Because God put you here. Just because you choose not to believe something doesn't make it not true.

If I decide not to believe in trucks and yet step onto the freeway, I will be crushed no matter what I believe. Same with God. We may choose not to accept Jesus Christ because we "love our sins" but our choice not to believe isn't going to help when hit by the truck of judgment.

About the "universe" (next comment)

It is interesting to note that the word UNIVERSE(from latin) is this
UNI--VERSE
UNI=one or single
VERSE=spoken word

We live in the UNIVERSE. That is the single spoken word of God. God said, "LET THERE BE".... and here we are.
How amazing is that!

I'm not going to give you opinions. I'm going to give you the best that humans & science have been able to uncover so far.

1. I came from a Caribbean island too long ago.

2. No, everything in the bible is NOT a myth. And, since there is such a place as San Francisco, not everything in the latest Danielle Steele novel is a myth either.

3. After I die my ashes will be thrown on a compost heap. Since my only sense of "feeling" is associated with my biological existence - nerves, brains, etc. - that will be the end of JAT.

4. As a very young person I was very religious. With the help of the innumerable thinkers that preceded me, I gradually realized the tenets of religion were incoherent, at odds with reason, and, to tell the truth, downright silly. At the same time I started to discover science and how one goes about demystifying reality. So, for example, I discovered that:
- Biology doesn't make too much sense WITHOUT evolution
- Creation myths are appalingly shallow
- Not a single aspect of reality requires a supernatural force
- Morality is necessarily and inherently a human creation
- Gaps in scientific knowledge cannot be filled by nonsense.

That's my take.

Too late you already talked about monkeys..

I came from my mother and father.

No, there are things in the bible based in fact, but not the things christianity is based . I believe some of the places existed, like Sodom and Gamorrah. They were actual cities, but I don't believe that things happened there like it says in the bible. All the stories in the bible were embellished with every generation they were passed down through in order to control and confuse a primitive people. So they may have had some SMALL basis in fact, but the stories were so exaggerated by the time they were written down, they are nothing like what may have actually happend. I also believe that many of the stories are metophors for things that were happening at the time. Like 666 being use as a code for Nero, to discusss the opression people were living under at the time.

Why do we have to go anywhere when we die? Why is it so hard to believe that when we're gone we're gone? We decompose and provide fuel for plants and worms to live off of, there.

It is true that if you place only male frogs in a habitat, some will spontainiously change to female, in order to reproduce. Black sea bass have also been known to change sex in captivity. The earth is about 4.57 billion years old. Certainly a few things would have changed since then. Why is it so hard to believe that we are a product of our environment?

This question is better, more inviting. :-) I do respect your disagreement.....I ask for the same respect towards my disagreements too. ;-) Your questions answered in order:

I believe we came from a common ancestor (a type of primate) from millions of years ago. Again, that is what I believe. It works for *me*. I could care less if it does not work for others. :-)

I don't find "everything within the bible a myth". I do think Jesus may have existed......but not as a "god", but as a prophet or a nomadic teacher. I even went as far to think Jesus might have been a shaman of sorts, who knew enough about herbology to heal certain sicknesses that were prevalent during his time. Those are only my theories.

I have no belief in afterlife, so when I die, my soul dies. That is it. Neither hell nor heaven.

Science answers the majority (but not all) of my answers that I need to be content within and around myself. I have been a wiccan theist (believer) once, then turned agnostic....for several years. Then recently turned atheist.

"Where do think you came from?"

My parents

"Is everything in the bible a myth?"

Yes

"Where do you go after you die if not heaven or hell?"

I go wherever my body is taken. For example, if my is to be buried, I will go into the ground.

"how long has earth been around"

The earth is estimated to be between 4 and 6 billion years old.

"please tell me what you have told yourself all these years about God, evolution, and time itself"

I believed in god when I was young but, I was always skeptical. I think evolution is the best theory we have about how life has come to be the way it is. What do you want to know about time?

I believe that religion was created to keep people under control. I don't believe humans came from monkeys, I believe that humans and monkeys came from the same thing. I believe that jesus did live, but I don't think he was anything more special then influencial. I stay 6 feet under the ground, thoughtless when I die.

People of weaker minds can't grasp the thought of death without the comfort of relgion, for this I think religion delivers a very viable use. I see nothing wrong with finding comfort in life where you can. I do see something wrong in forcing ideas on others, and fighting wars over imaginary comforts.

I believe in me. I came from Oklahoma. Almost everything in the bible is a myth. You go in the ground. Your energy is dispersed throughout the cosmos. The earth has been here for about 4.6 billion years. It will be here for about another 5 billion, until the sun swallows it up in a fiery mass. I think that was all of the questions.

I came from my parents. Life came as the result of the intrinsic nature of matter.
The Bible is not a myth, it is a primitive person's explaination of the world
When I die I return to the Earth

These things make logical sense. Some people don't have logic, some have logic but prefer the beauty of fairy tales.

I believe in Carma, I believe that here is another life after this one.
I believe the bible was written by a bunch of men, and it's the words of men with a little bit of god in it.
I think that most religions are the same and as long as you are a good person and don't hurt anyone, steal, ect... that you'll be ok.
I don't think it's all About JESUS.

First of all, I'm not here to "learn from you", as you say. I'm here to share with you what I believe in, and you will share with me what you believe in, but we both have much to learn from each other. Comunication is a two-way street.

I am an agnostic, and a pantheist. I believe in science, in the Big Bang and in the theory of evolution, because these events and theories have been factually proven to exist. There have been literally thosands of scientists through the entire course of human history that have devoted their lives (and sometimes even sacrifized them!), to, based on empirical observation and trial-and-error, discover fundamental laws that rule our universe and existance, and that have helped to improve the quality of life of millions of human beings in our entire history.
Since I am an agnostic, that means that I do not believe that God exists, but I don't believe that he doesn't exist either. Agnosticism is the belief that says that religious and philosophical issues cannot be determined for sure, simply because there is no evidence to determin them.
Since I don't have any *evidence* about the existance or non-existance of God, I simply believe that nobody will ever be capable of knowing for sure if he exists or not, or why was our universe created, etc... I believe, basically, that we will never know the answer for certain philosophical and religious questions, not until we die, at least.
Following this same train of thought, I believe the wisest thing to do is to admit that nobody knows for sure what happens when we die. I don't know what will happen to me, and I think this is wonderful. Being uncertain of death is what makes our lives so exciting and relevant.

The bible, I'm afraid, is a book written by men, for men. I do not believe that "God communicated with people and told them to write it".
I do believe, however, that you as a human being, have the right to believe whatever you want to believe, as long as that religious belief is not used to spread ignorance or hate about real-world issues or people.

Basically, I believe in mankind, in nature and in the wonderfulness and perfection of our universe. Why should we go around worshipping invisible things, when our tangible universe is much more wonderful and amazing? Why cannot science and religion go together?
If you have ever looked to a full-moon at midnight, felt the cold fall breeze moving your hair, or saw a bird mightly flying across the air, you'll probably realize that Mother Nature and our universe are already wonderful enough for themselves. We don't need a God to pray to, but we do need to understand that everything that happens to mankind depends on us. Our wonderful universe is also very wise, and will probably kill us all unless we start being more respectful about the environment and its preservation.
In the same way, I don't like people who blame God for all their problems and disasters, for we ourselves are the only ones to blame. What happens to mankind is the responsability of mankind.
To me, science is progress, is the understanding that we gain about the realm that surrounds us and helps us to achieve a better life - Religion is amazement, is the emotion that we feel upon discovering how wonderful the universe is. Science discovers things, while religion rejoices at the wonderfulness of those discoveries.

To sum up, I believe that we are all "bright children of the stars", and that we should rejoice and enjoy the gift of life and intelligence, and not worry about what will happen to us when we die, since there's no way for us to know what will happen for sure.
What we do with the time we are given is all that matters.
I hope you find this helpful.

Knowing must replace believing. Would you get on a plane during a thunder storm if the pilot said I believe I can make it. A brain surgeon who says I believe You;ll survive the surgery. I want knowing in flight, in surgery and most certainly in spiritual matters. The mind of the flesh is at war with God and the truth> The eternal mind of God must be REALIZED. Be "Still" and KNOW, Silence is Golden.....Try chanting the name of the Lord and you"ll be free, ...and be silent and WAIT.
