thats the exact amount of a GI bill, do two years in the army as a cook. You get great training and you can transfer that to your cooking school and take less classes, since you get a set dollar amount for school, that means you can take some money from the GI bill and put it in your pocket during school. And since your school will be subsidized heavily, you can take out student loans if you want and buy a nice new car or something and pay it off 10 years later.

I went to Johnson and Wales (great school by the way) and to pay for this i did three things i filled out a FAFSA. This will allow you to get government aid based on income and eligibility. i also did work study which was a huge help and i ask my financial aid advisor for any type of grant or loan that i could get. I receive a student achievement loan that allowed me the opportunity to only pay back half as long as i kept my GPA up to a 3.4 which i did. You have to make sure u ask the right questions and you can get all the help u need.

You could start out at a community college that offers hospitality management or culinary arts, the tuition at these institutions is drastically cheaper than traditional universities, and they also offer denser to the point curricula. I'm currently attending a two year college in pursuit of a Culinary Arts degree and my tuition is about $5000 a year. You should also submit a FAFSA application in order to be eligible for any school's financial aid.

i know you're looking for an answer other than "take out loans, "work for a few years", etc
hmm if you haven't already, try financial aid, you can usually get it for just about anything, and i apologize for being a bit vague, but there are books..im not sure if it's under the self-help section, or small business' or what, but the author is that guy in the suit...who's jacket has question marks all over it...his book gives you listings of agencies that give you money for ANYTHING.
i know i found a few at a borders book store, the big is very big
good luck :)

You already got some great answers. So, in addition to those:
OK, I'm going to assume you already know your way around the kitchen and enjoy cooking. Possible, already have a good collection of recipes you really cook well.
You could:
-Offer to do the cooking/catering for $$$ whenever family or friends have a party.
-Offer home cooked meals on demand. (You cook at home and deliver at certain time or you go to their home and cook)
-Pastries/Desserts?? or "All you need for a meal in a basket with handwritten instructions" - make up gift baskets and sell them at fleamarket/garage sales/through word-of-mouth.
Make sure, everybody is aware that your are raising funds to pay for school.
It might not raise all of the money, but can definitely bring in $$ to supplement possible scholarships or other funding you might get.

Start working in a restaurant (try a hotel chain) as an apprentice and work your way up. You can save the $$ on the way or your boss will see your talent (as you learn) and send you.
Good Luck.

Pray allot!!!!!!! Anything is attainable you just have to put your mind to it , set a goal and achieve it. 22,000 dollars can be gotten through various loans and grants. The best thing you can do is is not worry and act on what you want.
