20 YEARS AGO PARENTS COULD DISCIPLINE THEIR CHILDREN (BEAT THEM PROPER) TODAY MOST PARENTS LET THEIR KIDS DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT .TEACH THEM NO MANNERS AND KNOW NOTHING OF RESPECT . AND DO NOT DISCIPLINE THE KIDS OR HOLD THE KIDS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS .
WHEN PARENTS DO THE ABOVE THE KID HAS RESPECT AND IS A BETTER PERSON . THE CHILD IS A REFLECTION OF THE PARENTS

I agree that it is poor parenting. Parents these days are too lax in their parenting so the kids aren't made to respect their elders, let alone anyone. When I was a kid, if I didn't respect my elders or didn't use manners, I would have been hit clear across the room. I learned my lessons on respect very early on and still respect others, especially elders, to this day (I am 41).

because some elders treat children like crap and have no respect for them therefore sometimes the children just give up. even though the elders are older than the children; they should still show the children a litte respect too if they expect some back.

Because now a days, kids no longer have that sense of fear that kids from 20 years ago had. Today it is believed that reasoning with a child is a more effective way to discipline your kids. Don't get me wrong I am not in favor of beating kids, your should explain why it is not acceptable behavior and stand firm on your punishments. Another thing is that kids today know they can call the cops anytime they are angry or scared just a little and some will do it.

I feel kids are to pampered today. They have no idea of hard work, and they are exposed to, to many things. Everything is at their fingertips.

I could write a book on this, but I won't. Suffice it to say that there is a lot of weak parenting out there, where the parents are more concerned with being "buddies with" or popular to their children. The end result is people allowing the kids to rule the roost and they they wonder why the kid still lives with them when they are 35 and why they have nothing to retire on. I also think there is something to the old adage "spare the rod and spoil the child."
