Or is this is just a rumor. Does anyone know of a place where some one could get a bowl?

There are PLENTY of places here in NYC to satisfy your NECC (New England Clam Chowder) crave.

You'd want to start with the best, and that would be the Pearl Oyster Bar down on Cornelia Street. Here's their kudos from New York Magazine: Greetings from inside the Yahoo Brain in New York City!

If you're uptown you might want to check out Docks or Vince & Eddie's. The websites for Docks is: http://www.docksoysterbar.com/, and here's a Yahoo Local profile on V&E's.

Lastly, if you're yearning for your New England home in more ways than just Clam Chowder, you should swing by The Boston (212) cafe, a haven for all New England Expatriates, and home for a few very brave Yankee fans!

Hope this helps!

If you want a good bowl of Clam chowder in New York, go to the grocery store and but it out of the can. I have had the chowder in the city and it was OK but nothing like the real thing up north.
