Cheating is a broad term. What constitues cheating or infidelity is determined by YOUR individual ideas of your relationship. Since the lines are sometimes fuzzy, it is best to discuss your desires and expectations with the person you are involved with. You and that person can set the limits for what is allowed and not allowed, specific to your relationship. For me, my significant other can have sexual relations with another woman, but cannot develope an emotional bond or friendship with another woman.

Cheating is betraying the trust and relationship with your significant other. Anything sexual with someone else (including kissing) is cheating. Going out to dinner with another man or woman that isn't a friend, co worker, family, etc. Is cheating. Let's face it, you aren't taking someone to a restaurant outside of those three categories it ain't for the atmosphere.

I feel cheating has occurred when one of the two parties is unaware of activity that has occurred between the parties.

This is to say even in an "open" relationship like in couples that are swingers, in these relationships they consider cheating to occur when the other person is not aware of the other person cheating, they do it only together and only together.

I guess most of all to define cheating it depends on both of the people communicating with each other (which happens all to little in marriages) and defining those lines.

Well....to be totally truthful....if your going to go out with another guy when you have a serious boyfriend.....this coud be considered cheating all by itself....I know that I would feel very hurt if I found out that my man spent time with another woman without telling me...actually this happened to me and he swears that he never cheated sexually but that he did meet her and spend some time on and off with her....to me, it all meant the very same thing...he was interested in someone else...we wound up breaking up because I found out that they were seen together....I felt like an idiot and when I confronted him and asked him if it was true..he admitted to it...when I asked him if she was somebody that he was thinking of dating, he said that he wasn't sure but that he thought we should break up because he obviously wasn't as happy with me as he acted.....I would just rather someone be upfront from the very beginning, that way you don't have to find out the hard way.
If you are strictly talking sexual cheating...I would still say that swapping spit is cheating, let's face it, your doing something that you KNOW your boyfriend/girlfriend would not like and does not know about...so you already are lying.
I hope this helps and I hope that you can make the right decision for yourself and all concerned.....remember, honesty is the best remedy!

Cheating starts in the head with the thought that you want to be physically or emotionally involved with someone else

its anything that you do with someone that you would not feel comfortable doing in front of your partner. Depends though really because emotional cheating can be seen as just as bad as physical cheating

Being intimate with someone other than your significant other. Doesn't have to be sex. If one is having an intitmae conversation, dinner, or kiss; it is cheating.
