We can fund CPS a little better and give them more reign to do their jobs. We can hold people accountable for their actions when it comes to their kids. When someone is abusing a child either physically or mentally, that person needs to do about 10 years prison time or more. We can quit sitting back and letting it happen. Children deserve so much better in this country than what they are given. Our focus as a people ought to be on how we can better children's lives and not our own.

Mandatory birth control and requirements to prove that you're capable of parenting a child. The problem is that many people don't exercise good judgment and end up having unwanted children, which leads to abuse.

Chemically induce infertility into the population and remove it only when the parents have proven that they are financially, morally, and ethically able to support a child for 18+ years. That way, there are no "accidents" or crack whore mothers out there getting pregnant and abusing their children.

The other problem is that we don't crack down on abusive parents. One reason is because the child would be separated from his/her parents (and society screams about things like that). Social services is not equipped to handle the flood of abuse cases and often allow cases slip by.

Additionally, we need to stop allowing the "insanity" defense. When you drown your children in a bathtub or car driven into a lake, then you should pay. I don't care what type of childhood a person has, it is never an excuse to harm a child.

As for sexual predators (another form of abuse), the punishment needs to be so apalling that they don't even think about doing anything to a child. How many have been let out of prison only to attack more children and sometimes kill them? "Organ" removal for males and complete hysterectomies for women caught abusing children (plus long jail terms and intensive "rehabilitation")

In reality, none of this will happen, so to answer your question: We can do nothing other than individually ensure that our own are taken care of.

The only way to stop it is to be the parents that break the chain. Almost ALL abusers were abused, verbally or physically and because this results in extreme lack of self-worth, as an adult these people find their power in exerting it over others in one way or another.
There has always beens lots of child abuse but not until recently has it been reported, and still it's difficult to get the courts to do anything about it.
The only way to stop it is to treat your children kindly and with respect so that they grow up to treat others the same.

If you truly want to stop abuse, the measures must be draconian. And these measures MUST touch every part of society. Every economic level, social class, and be above the constitutional rights of any individual making them void.

Also any organization that would impede our law and process of prevention, Must be removed and Declared an enemy of the people.e.g...ACLU, Human rights league,etc...

You can't have control with out the permanent removal of the opposition.
And control must be absolute.

We don't need any of this. We the people need to find the real moral reality and stop playing about it.
We can't have sexually driven ad campaigns and entertainment that is constantly filled with the suggestion and innuendo of promiscuity. Porn must be removed from the world stage because of what it is, and the situations it causes.
We have a much larger problem than dozens of priests buggering around with kids. The issue reaches out to the rest of us who wouldn't dream of ever harming our children or spouse. WE let it happen because "a little TV or a movie isn't going to hurt anything" except it's not a little anymore. It is what our social norm has become, and it is repulsive when you look in from the outside.

I think that since the death penalty is going to be a part of our culture, it should be televised. People are quietly executed and if we have to watch it, it will be a better deterrent against future acts. Another thing to do is come down hard on people for a first offence, that way they will be less likely to do it again. We give them wrist slaps forever and all that does is give them contact with people who can teach them how to not get caught. We also need to give parenting classes. Right now it's a sort of punishment. If you don't watch your child properly you get sent to class. You've seen how many questions are on here asking is my child normal in whatever area. How about a mandatory class on what to expect?

Child abusers should have their children taken away permanently. Child abusers should be sterilized so they can't reproduce more children to abuse.

Report the abusers instead of "not getting involved".
Don't abuse our own children...or anyone elses.
