Check the one that feels right but, if you can check African-American, or another minority box, then take advantage of the extremely prejudiced and outdated Affirmative Action laws that say a certain number of people in all places should be minorities. Also, although it is quickly changing due to legal battles, colleges and universities statistically give more money to minority students than white students. A lot of this is still based on parents income.
To be perfectly honest though....check the box that you feel you belong too.

That's easy, what does it say on your birth certificate?
As a general rule , if you are of a mixed race such as White and any other race, you are considered to be that of the other race. Not White.
For example, I am White, my husband (father of my children) is Hispanic, therefore my children are considered Hispanic!

I say it depends on the application. I would check other for jobs and such. If it were for education I would check from haiti- you may have more chances for grants and loans.

Is there a bi-racial option? If so, I'd choose that. If not, what does your father consider himself? African? Native American? Choose whatever he says. Or, you could choose Other.
Is this for a race-based scholarship? If not, I don't believe you're required to answer any questions about race.

You can either choose "Other" or "Decline to State" - I have had the same issues as my mother is Salvadorian and my Father is American and I feel bad having to choose one or the other - which is always what I've had to do...so most of the time I "Decline to State" because I think it doesn't matter what ethnicity/nationality I am and I shouldn't have to choose because by choosing I end up denying other parts of my identity.

I am half white and half black. It depends on what you want to say. I have always declined to answer because I refused to be labeled based on a box.

I'm Haitian as well and often check "Other" and write in "Haitian-American." You could do this, but replace "American" with what your father identifies with ie: Haitian-German
At the end of the day, it's what you want, you can check as many boxes as you wish.
