Matthew 6:5-6
"When you pray, be not like the hypocrites who love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. When you pray, enter into the closet, shut the door, and pray to thy Father in secret."
Hmm, people really understood that one well. Too bad christians don't do that more often, that'd make everybody else's life so much easier.

Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Mat 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Mat 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Mat 6:16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
also the holy ghost will pray for you because we don't know how to pray.

Yes, Jesus did give people a Model Prayer. Sorry, you got it incorrect, as, most people who not read the Bible error in their understanding.
In Matthew 6:9-13 for example, Jesus shows the Structure of proper prayer in approaching God. In this prayer we can see an outline of how we should pray.
Addressing/Acknowledging God first and showing "respect".
Expressing a desire for God's will in our lives.
Acknowledging God's provisions for our needs.
Asking for forgiveness of our Sins.
Forgiving others for their wrongs against us.
Asking for Protection.
This how I see the Prayer. Many pray this prayer, but, normally I use it as an outline to work through the prayers I need and want to make to present my requests to God.

Actually it's Our Father, who lives in heaven and in those called by Christ, Holy is your name, which is the name of Jesus Christ that He gave His son if you want to be technical. If you have a real relationship with Christ, He tells you how to pray everyday, every moment, every waking hour. He directs you by His spirit.

Many are focused on pray for something temporary.

But, again, I was not there in biblical times...
