Not necessarily. The U.S. or any other countries don't use theirs. If they are "used," per se, it is as a deterrent for other countries using nuclear weapons.

That is just asking the same question as, " If Iraq is getting bombed and hundreds and hundreds of people are dying, then why dont the Iraqis do anything about it? " The answer is the same. They cant do anything. First of all, both of the countries as you can see are really small. Iran does not have any country, that has already made a nuclear bomb, that would support them in making this bomb. Iraq is being bombed and chaos is errupting there. No country in their right mind would want to get involved in this war in fear that maybe their country might start to get bombed as well. Another reason that Iran is not using the bomb, is that, many of the countries that have already made the nuclear bombs are not allowing Iran to make a nuclear bomb because then Iran will have an advantage and will be the eighth (i think, sorry not sure, maybe the seventh) country that has a nuclear bomb. The other countries dont want that in fear that Iran might do something or bomb someplace. That is the mostly the reason that Iran is not using the bomb

The same reason nobody else has used it all this time. Leaders of countries aren't stupid. They might appear like wild-eyed maniacs, in their tactical appeal to uneducated populations who have never talked on a telephone or used a washing machine.
Maniacs some of them might be. But not in the sense that they're stupid. Manipulative is what they are. And they know how to fool and frighten masses of people.
The truth is that they KNOW that starting nuclear war will mean the end for them as well. That's exactly why the bomb was never used. All those paranoid folks who invested in bomb shelters in the 50's wasted their money.
THE WHOLE THING IS A SCARE TACTIC TO GET THEIR WAY. If we die, they die.

Iran will seem to be more powerful by using the possiblity of the threat of using a nuclear bomb rather than using it.

Amazingly the countries that have nuclear capability have had the sense not to use them, not after Japan in wwII. I think a lot of countries are concerned the radical leadership in Iran might just be unstable enough to use theirs. If Israel feels threatened they might make a preemptive strike, using non-nukes to take out Iran's nuclear facilities. Too many people obsessed with war.

The countries that currently possess nuclear weapons haven't used them because they understand that it would be self-defeating; retaliation would kill them, and they don't wish to die. When nuclear weapons are held by religious fanatics, they are not bound by the same interest in self-preservation, believing that they are operating in a holy war, promising them salvation and rewards in an after-life. So from Iran's perspective, they either get away with the use of nuclear weapons (most likely against Israel) because of a failure of action by the world community, or they die as martyrs.

There is no guarantee that they wont. Anyone who is backed into a corner by a bully will pull out anything they can to protect themselves. Unfortionately these United States has become a bully in the eyes of the world. We are no longer policing the world but pushing others around to do what "OUR Government" thinks is right. So who is to say that if Iran develops one that they wont use it to protect themselves.

Against whom? They have to find a vehicle that can take it across to the USA. Like a third world country they wil develop the bomb and spend a fortune guarding it. Like Pakistan.

The same reason other countries don't use nuclear bombs anymore; if you use one, others will be used on you.

Society status. As long as others know that they have nuclear devices, people won't tend to mess with them.
However, they know that if they do use it, other countries will use theirs, etc. until there's a world war and nothing is left.
