One of the most reliable brand of cars I've had was Honda. Never had a problem with it for the whole 3 years I had it, and it still ran after i bashed in the front of it! What you shouldn't do is get tricked into buying a hybrid car. What they don't tell you is that the battery needs to be replaced after 8 years or so, and that costs 8000 dollars. You definately WILL NOT save any money. Best source for info on cars is Kelley Blue Book.

Honda Civics are the editors choice, the 2006 VW Jetta TDI BioDiesel gets better mileage than even the hybrids in real world driving. If your looking on the cheap 93-96 Ford Escorts are solid cars.

Honda Civic. Make sure it hasn't been fitted with aftermarket crap. Just the plain factory Civic is your choice for dependability and gas efficiency.
