Stupid idea. I personally don't want to deal with a bunch of convicted criminals. Besides, they'd probably get in trouble anyway and get sent to military prison, so why complicate the process. Siberia is probably a better option for felons.

That is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. So what you want is to use felons to defend the nation? In the hopes of what? that they get killed? What if they survive combat? Do they serve for four years? or by their sentence? I have been in the military for 17 years and I have never heard a more ridiculous statement. Here's a counter proposal lets have felons work at your job because regardless of what you do it has less impact on this Nation then the men and women of the Armed Forces have everyday. You should think one today for the opportunity to write this question

No, once a felon was "released", from jail to go to boot camp, most of them would, if not all, go AWOL, or blow the scene and leave with out a forwarding address.

If you could get them to actually serve, then you would put them in harms way, where if they went to prison, they would be guaranteed not to get shot at...hmmm either way, getting shanked or getting shot, who knows...

Then, what about the "lifers"? Do you give them a free "out" once they served so much time? If not, there is on incentive for them to serve.

Ideally, most Judges would offer young men the chance to either escape prison by going to the Military, or go to jail, BUT, the Military doesnt want "CONVICTS either!!

They want some one who will be committed to them, not desert at the first sign of trouble or the first chance they will get.

I wish you well..

Why that is a fantastic idea. I'm sure it has some draw backs but a good idea all the same. I think it's better than just giving them community service cleaning up highways. There are non-criminals who would do that to volunteer and help out. I would only send over the murderers and rapists, though. Well I dont know because that would be like a reward for them, letting them kill more people. Anyway, good idea but needs to be a little more thought out.

Like felons are any kind of drain on the economy now. OLD PEOPLE are the big drain, let's put them on ice floes and let them drift out to sea.

No. They are a security risk. Felons, specifically anyone with a death sentence should simply be killed. Bullets are very very cheap.

Security risks should never do the work of our military. Perform manual labor, work the fields, etc.. yes.

It would save money

Can you imagine a army of felons who do not follow laws let alone rules nor follow directions armed with guns and in battle.

We would have chaos, litterally an army running wild shooting anyone and everyone.......... including each other

Can you spell attrocities? I knew you could. The vast majority of felons aren't evil they are too stupid to understand cause and effect thus they would have little miltary value in our high tech armed forces. The smarter ones of course are Congressmen.

Not sure if that would be a good idea. Would you want a convicted murder or rapists armed with a machine gun or rocket launcher?

I think our army is safer and more intelligent if it keeps out some of the riff raff
