My Fiance is leaving to go to Iraq (for the second deployment), and this time, I have the chance to go see him off. For me, I think it would be best if I did go. He, on the other hand, thinks it would be best if I didn't go, becuase he couldn't handle it. But I couldn't handle it if I didn't go. If I do go, there will be other people with me who I do know, and who are going through the same thing. I thought it might be better for all of us. What should I do?

The one thing that I noticed, (no offence to anyone) Is that, all the people that were once in the Military, said not to go. All the people that have not been in this situation, said to go. They do have a lot of experience in this, i just want to go so badly. But I don't know if I can handle it.

If you can go and not break down in front of him, then go. The thing he's probably most afraid of is seeing you cry. I took my husband to his unit when he deployed, but I was strong through the whole thing, and it was better for him to have me there.
There was another soldier in particular who had come that night, had her very small child in the car, and couldn't hardly stand up she was crying so hard. When she finally got in the car and drove away, her husband had so sit on the curb for almost 15 minutes just to contain himself enough to go before they called for formation.
You have to understand that it's a mind trip for them. The better they see you handling it, the less they have to worry about while they're there and the more they can focus on their mission.

I did 5 West Pacific deployments. I always preferred that I just get on board and not have to deal with the sadness of leaving your woman for an extended period. Hell at least they got email and cell phones now. When I did my deployments, we'd get into a port, then have to stand in line for 5 or 6 hours to use a phone. Y'all got it easy nowadays. Let him go, don't distract him. You will see him again, and you can probably talk to him tomorrow anyways.

You need to go to see him off. He might have regrets when you're not there. Just don't make a big scene. It's hard enough when loved ones leave for war.
I pray he is safe over there, and that the war ends soon so he, and all the others, come home.

I think that you should go! You need to be able to say goodbyes, I love yous, and kiss & hug!! I know I would do it if I were in that position...no questions or doubts about it. I feel it's important for anyone in that situation to have the opportunity to be with that person as long as possible. Going with him to see him off is a few more minutes in his company.

Well having a husband or fiance who leaves for Iraq is always hard. I would talk to him about it and figure out why he deosn't want you to go. In my opinion i think it would be a good idea to go so you can talk to others and be with your fiance for one last time. Hope i could help!

We've got so much on our minds when we're leaving. I personally wouldn't even be able to appreciate you being there. That's how overwhelming it is. Say your good byes at the house. I know it's hard on you having him leave, but think about the hardship he's about to go though. If he asked you to stay home, he needs that, and you know what, he deserves it. Just my two cents.
