That's more a question for the Philosophy section. In the Religion section, you're speaking to people who believe... and are therefore not likely to believe God is anything but Truth.
But to answer the question more directly, we have no way of knowing. There's no palpable proof of God, but no one knows if there's a God or not. Maybe so, maybe no. We'll either find out or blink out, eventually. My guess is that we'll sort of be non-sentient energy that eventually goes back into something living. But you might get to be part of a star first, or churn through a volcano.
But no one knows. People have faith and believe they know, but no one knows for sure one way or the other. :)

It is impossible to determine the absolute true answer to your question. Individuals must come to their own answer, based on their own experience and their interpretation of that experience.
Many people have an innate and constant perception of some form of divine being in their consciousness, but it is at a low level where they don't think about it much. It is just assumed. It is impossible to say if that perception, or any perception or thought, is "real" or "imagined", in the most absolute sense. Some Eastern religions posit that all reality is an illusion.
Organized religion often indoctrinates people with specific dogmas that claim to accurately define the absolute truth about the divine dimensions of reality. However, to one degree or another, just about all religions are deeply flawed with moral contradictions and absurd assumptions at their core.
For this reason, one could say that organized religion is the biggest obstacle to spiritual enlightenment ever invented by man.
There are many ways to connect with the "divine" dimensions of existence. Take a walk in the woods, or on the beach. Meditate Smile at a stranger and pay them a compliment or do them a small favor. Take some small action that helps make the world a better place.
It will uplift your heart and maybe even give you a sense that there is more to reality than just the physical dimensions. Even if you don't experience the "divine" (whatever that is) you and the world will be improved, regardless of whether or not "God" exists.

Why stop there?
Is atheism a construct of our psyche?
For that matter, is all reality simply a construct of our psyche?
The evidence of God is all around you. You simply chose to ignore it.

I think God is real but maybe we are just a construct of his psyche, really.

I would have to say yes. For the most part, people generally need something to believe in. A supreme being that is the creator of all seems to fill this void for most.
Think of it this way, why is it when you do something good it's because God did that for you but when something in your life is going bad or wrong, it's you doing it or you doing it without God. Are you so inept that you can do nothing write on your own?

Possibly, but if so, human beings have been creating "god" in some form (or multiple forms) since nearly, if not the beginning of existence. Archeologists have found small statues and painting with symbols that they have either analyzed and found represent a god or goddess figure, or looks like it might represent those, in caves that date to 10,000 BC and later.

Yes and No. The Sense of an omnipotent Creative Being comes from outside of us. But this sensing is fuzzy and mysterious, so we invent "details" to try to approximate some sense of what the Ultimate Being is like.
Naturally, what results is hundreds of different "Pictures of What god is and what God wants?"
etc.
and hundreds of varying religious formats.
