commitment, sometimes the relationship will suck... sometimes you wont want to be with them and you cant see why you love them, but its the ideal of commitment, especially in marriage that pulls it thru. the idea that *we* will wether this storm and every other one too...

I would have to say that Communication and Trust are the two equal essentials in a relationship. Trust is a bond that should never be broken and in order to truely trust in someone you and they have to Communicate. Two quotes for a relationship is
"Honesty is the Best Policy", and "The truth Hurts". If two people can't live by these quotes and work through them then a relationship just isn't going to work out.

I have been (mostly) happily married for 20 years. Although I can tell you about what makes my relationship work for me and my husband, they might not be the same factors that work in your relationship. The reason why I hate to give a general answer, is because I am convinced that the key to a fulfilling and happy relationship is being satisfied within yourself. If you are pleased with who YOU are then you can share yourself with someone else in a mature, caring, open and honest manner. Another important element to being happy in a relationship, is setting boundaries so that you feel safe in the relationship. For instance, you establish perameters for what you find acceptable in the relationship so that you can feel respected and give your partner the same consideration.
Love your partner the way that you want to be loved. Respect your partner the way that you want to be respected. Care for your partner the way that you want to be cared for. And ENJOY your relationship everyday.

Trust and communication.......always understand this one rule.....u should be able to have an evironment created for u to reveal ure true self w/o scrutiny, criticizm, and judgement.......u should in turn create that same environment for the other person......if u cant be who u really are than whats the point....
the other major thing is that the two of u should be able to learn one another and be able to grow with one another.....growth is just as important as trust and communication.....
If you have all of this, the chances are...u ahve chemistry and that is something that does nto come along often......if u got it...hold onto it...
