I believe that many people in the world have a serious reality delusion. I have a sense of responsibility to educate them. (I am confident that they really are wrong.) I am also compelled because their delusion affects my life and theirs, and the state of the whole world. But I do not have the power to make a difference. They don't want to change their minds, and they teach their children the delusion as fast as they can. So my dilemma is, should I just focus on being the best and truest I can be, leaving them wallowing in the dirt, or is the struggle self-sufficient and self-justified enough to continue butting heads?

Led to this crossroads by frustration and a nice answer from "jacobjmr": "Do not be afraid I AM with you.
Perhaps they are, after all its your reality, If thats what you believe then stop all the funny business as it distracts you from your soul purpose in this incarnation.
Peace"

To clarify, I don't believe I am the only one who's right. I just believe the "right" are in a low-influence minority.

In general, if you believe everyone else is wrong and only you are right, you have a serious mental illness and should seek treatment.

Why do you have a sense of responsibility to educate? About what? Can you point out specifically who has serious reality delusions? Whose reality? Theirs or yours? This needs to be answered first.

Pigs wallow in the mud. Does that make them dirty? No. That is the only way to cool off, having no sweat glands.

So what is the delusion? It sounds like your impression of the delusion involves the whole world. How can everyone be wrong and only you can be right. Sounds like it's turned around to me. Go get some psychiatric help before you jump off the deep end.

I can understand your concern. That is kind of concern of people who really think sensibly. But when justification to what you do or believe crosses the thin line of truth and deception, it could be delusional by itself. It is an accepted fact that neither you or I can save the world even if we give everything that we can but through our own little ways some wrongs can be made right and that is nobility expressed from the very core of humanity and to me is more than enough to say that you have done your part.

Looks like someone needs to pick up a copy of "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand.

Listen...other people's idiocy is only your concern if it threatens you directly. In that regard you take a "live and let die" attitude. It’s not your problem that they can’t get it together. Everyone on the planet is responsible for his own life.

It only becomes your problem if it affects you directly, then you are free to do what it takes to protect yourself interest. That might be protecting yourself from bodily harm, protecting your children or your family or changing laws that affect you or changing the government if it’s being unfair to you. Even something like saving a friend from a drug overdose is still a selfish thing to do because untimely you don’t want to have to cope with his death, so you save him.

As humans we have a fundamental understanding that life would be a whole lot easier if everybody thought like we thought. Unfortunately everyone is free to think whatever they want. Some people have managed to secure themselves a nice little niche by getting everyone else to believe how it suits them best and forget that they have the right to believe however they want. We call these people...clergy.

But if you are a fair person interested in justice you have to recognize that every one has a right to exist and they have a right to believe however they want and do whatever they can to secure themselves a proper place to live to pursue their happiness.

It’s not your job to guess if they are right or wrong it’s only your job to know if you are right or wrong and then do what you can to secure your place in the world and participate in the society that allows you to exist. Dealing with other humans and their conflicting agendas is just a fact of life. It’s what makes us human.

To try and change someone’s mindset simply because it doesn’t suit you is called being “righteous.” Being righteous implies that you don’t respect that other person’s ability to exist or think. It assumes that you think you are absolutely right. And history has shown us that those who hold themselves up as righteous aren’t right all the time. And common sense shows that righteous people want to fix other people because that seems a whole lot easier that fixing themselves.

Do some soul searching, find out what’s valuable about you, and then live it and defend it. You’ll find as soon as you find out what your purpose is in life, you’ll be so concerned with that, you’ll find that other people’s issues don’t really matter much to you anymore. And once you find your true value and know that’s its completely yours, then other people can’t really affect you unless you allow them to because you’ll know that people can only take from you, what you voluntarily give them or trade them for their value.

And read “Atlas Shrugged.” It’s basically the story of what happens when all the smart, valuable people of the world quit picking up the slack for all the lazy, worthless people. The lazy people basically descend into anarchy and the smart people develop a small economy of the fair trade of genuine human value. It’s a little slow, but it’s a good story and a good model for why you need to find what’s good about you and deal with people only on the terms that suit you.

Is it better to teach your children and believe in a value system based on a superior being who loves them or to believe in nothing going about life doing what you want without worrying about future consequences. If the latter were true for everyone, the human race might no longer exist.

There was a story of a man driving down the road. He receives a call from his wife, frantic. She says, "Watch out! Some maniac is going the wrong way on the freeway!" to the which he replied, "What re you talking about? EVERYONE's going the wrong way!"

Moral of the story: if you think everyone is against you and you are on a special duty mission, you're probably wrong.

I'm not sure what you do or don't do or believe in to make you feel as though you are the only one qualified to enlighten people. I do believe that is no ones responsibility. It is impossible to change someones beliefs so I think you should leave it be. Live your life as you want and let others live theirs.

If you accept the fact that everyone makes up their own reality, then everyone will appear dillusional to you as their reality is not constructed by you. However saying this, the reality that you see in others is constructed by you. Maybe try a bit of empathy and undertanding and try not to be so critical of others...you may learn from others too, which will enrich your perspective...

I am assuming that what you speak of is your beliefs on religion, since you have it in this category. If so, then you are not alone as my husband struggles with the same things. He believes differently than the members of his family; mother, father, aunts & uncles...but still insist on telling them his beliefs. They are not different beliefs but are extended beliefs. It is your job, if you are sure that you know what you are saying, to tell everyone you know and let them come to their own conclusion.

Hope this helps!
