I don't think it is too much. But there are some 'buts...'
1) Do not work the same body part every day. This only promotes the likelihood of injury. Therefore, if she's on the treadmill every single day, she should switch it out with the stair master or elliptical trainer. Some muscles are more resillient to daily or near daily training, however, most aren't.
2) If she is working out when injured (more than a little ache or pain), then this is also not good.
3) She should try to incorporate at least one day a week to rest or active rest. This allows the body to recuperate. Active rest means a light walk in the park or something that gets her moving, but not described as strenuous.
There's a fine line between dedicated and addicted to fitness. Only your sister can decide that and I'd be sort of skeptical to say that she is overdoing it with just 60 - 90 minutes a day.

The two doctors who wrote, "You: The Owner's Manual," might contend that 60 to 90 minutes of exercise every day doesn't do much for you and could cause excessive wear and tear on your body. They recommend 30 minutes of moderate physical activity each day, with one hour each week (in 3-20 minute sessions) of exercise at 80% of your max heart rate. They also recommend minimal resistance training and yoga (5 minutes a day).

Well, it all depends on the physical condition of the person doing the exercises. If the exercise doesn't exacerbate (or worsten) any previously existing conditions then i would say it's ok. Of course here in the USA, you should consult your health care provider before starting any exercise reigment. But if you ask me, the more exercise you can do the better. if your sister is exercising every day for 60-90 minutes, and she hasn't conked out yet, i would say she is in pretty darn good shape!

Everybody is different. If her body is able to exercise this much, then that is great. Experts recommend at least 20-30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise per day. Just make sure that your sister is eating and isn't harboring a disorder. Then it will be dangerous.

No I dont think that is too much as long as she eats enough. I exercise at least 3 hours a day, sometimes like 5. I just eat like a monster so I can maintain my weight.

Brit: I think it depends on the person's metabolism and frame. Also, it would make a difference if your sister is eating properly and keeping hydrated as well. If she is exercising that much and not eating properly her body will become worn down and weak. Many people who others see as thin enjoy exercising to keep toned and fit.

Not at all. This would allow her to do at least 30 min of cardio and 30 min of weight training each day. You could recommend to your sister that she keeps it mixed up so as to not fatigue certain muscle groups. For example, on Monday she could do 30 min on a treadmill followed by 30 min of lower body work outs. On Tuesday she can do 30 min on the rower or stair-climber follwed by 30 min of upper body.

it depends...is she eating still or being overly compulsive about her diet. plus what is she doing during her workout. if she is doing cardio and weights and stretching it could take anywhere from an hour to 2 hours.
also remember that as you exercise your body becomes used to your workout, so you have to make up for it by adding more intesity, weight, or time spend doing it.

when I was training for my fitness test with police I would train 3 hrs a day and I never felt better for it.
As long as she is doing it for being healthy and coz she enjoys it it is not a problem.
Just watch that she is eating right and drinking plenty of water so she does not dehydrate herself.
