"In Christian mythology, the Holy Grail was the dish, plate, or cup used by Jesus at the Last Supper, said to possess miraculous powers. The connection of Joseph of Arimathea with the Grail legend dates from Robert de Boron's Joseph d'Arimathie (late twelfth century) in which Joseph receives the Grail from an apparition of Jesus and sends it with his followers to Great Britain; building upon this theme, later writers recounted how Joseph used the Grail to catch Christ's blood while interring him and that in Britain he founded a line of guardians to keep it safe. The quest for the Holy Grail makes up an important segment of the Arthurian cycle, appearing first in works by Chrétien de Troyes.[1] The legend may combine Christian lore with a Celtic myth of a cauldron endowed with special powers."

There is no Holy Grail. Some purport that the wine glass Jesus drank from at the Last Supper is the Holy Grail, but it's not. Just like there is no King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Don't get me wrong, I believe in Jesus' divinity and I am a follower of Christ, but the Holy Grail is a man-made fantasy. By the way, the DaVinci Code is a Novel, not a history book.

I believe the quest for the Holy Grail is the quest for Universal Truth. But what is Universal Truth? The question has never been able to be answered, so no one will ever really find the Holy Grail.

The cup used by Christ at the last supper, or in the shadow of the Da Vinci Code, some believe it was Mary Magdalen , because (symbolically speaking, the shape of a chalice and a womb are the same shape, V shape is the international symbol for the femine, male is ^ ) in her womb she may have been pregnant with Christ's sun when he was crucified.
Cup =womb, containing the blood of Christ in the sense of a child not wine as the bible verse states. Hope that helps

i believe that the mythology surrounding the holy grail stems from the chalis that Jesus is drinking out of in the painting of the last supper. somehow it has taken on arthurian proportions (Monty Python, Indiana Jones), but it is still just a myth.

A relic, believed to be a chalice used by Christ at the Last Supper. It was pawned by the Catholics amongst other things to extort money from the people with promises that if they bought it, all their ailments and problems would go away

And that cup that Jesus used supposedly has magical power. However, that is not based on biblical references. It's myth was established with the King Arthur myth.
