it doesn't? i thought the definition of onomatopoeia was:

1. any tomato-based sauce that contains peas
2. any salad that is covered with tomatoes and peas

Because the word onomatopoeia has it's origins in greek and latin. The' poe' means poem, which is literally the definition of the word. It is a literal poem. A poem in the word, in other words, it sounds like what the word actually means.
