VERY hyper, VERY cute. I am so in love with my little girl. They need a lot of attention. Mine is NOT fond of children, but I don't have any, so only visitors are an issue. She isn't aggressive with them, she is fearful. The ideal situation for a Pom is if there are no children or they are grown, and if you have lots of time to be with her and spoil her. They are ideal lap and bed dogs and love to snuggle. They suffer from separation anxiety. They should be house dogs! I know someone who lives in Texas and has Pomeranians that are kept in the yard. They are miserable in the heat and all they do is bark all day long--very shrill bark--and annoy the neighbors. My Pom loved my other dog, a miniature Schnauzer, but we had the other dog first and got the Pom as a baby, so she took to her right away. You won't be sorry if you invest your love in a Pom. They give it back to you X 100. Mine also lives and gets along well with five cats! She plays with them like they were her littermates.

If it is the only dog in the house it can be great pet. We had one with 2 other dogs and it was too controlling of everything and attention to share with the others, resulting in fights betweeen the dogs. We gave him away to a single owner without other dogs and they get along find.
