my boss is a man who is only 4'11" and I am a lofty 5'3" taller in heels. I base my respect on his actions. He has a bit of the small guy complex which is helped when his peers (all older gentlemen of at least 6 feet) come looking for the "little guy". When he gets all Napoleon I lose respect for the moment but in general we really get along. Poor guy has a history of losing assistants in record time...I am a record and a legend here for sticking it out. But let's face it...a dick is a dick whether 6 inches or 6 feet...it's all in how it treats you.

No I would not. I respect people on the respect they either give out or earn. Height shouldn't matter any more than skin colour, sex or weight. It's all in how one is treated.

Character and leadership abilities will matter more than physical characteristics. People may focus on the height in the beginning, but character later.

NO! Hey, we munchkins deserve respect too!

But seriously, respect should be based on values, ethics, kindness to others, competence, motivation and hard work... not on physical appearance. You are not talking about respect, you are talking about intimidation... and a good manager does not need to intimidate anyone!

Well, a taller person is a little more intimidating than a short person. No offense to short people, I'm not the tallest person around at 5'6" but I'm no midget.

No, I wouldn't treat them any differently than anyone else. Height would have nothing to do with what kind of person they are.

No. I respect personalities. The way people look doesn't effect how much I respect them, their actions do.
