I think job like youth minister or preacher is not some easy works, it may not too useful if you only get from books, cost it talks about character and personal life too...or how you are willing to do small thing for some people that other people didn't cares about them or humble yourself, then God may wish you to become one.
But that attitudes for not getting information from man may another issue that you may need to look into it, cost the best way to learn about how to become one may still learning from someone that already got the experience to share with you or show you the example.
Some of those book out there has been wrote by people that you may not know them, just like people saying "talking is easy, but do is another case" so is those book really useful? Because actually all things start from yourself too, the experience will be far more useful from any books that you can read.
Sometime the best way to prepare for it, is just allow things to go naturally, if you already shared with your pastor, then wait for your time to come and in the mean time, learn how to do the most humble things as that is what the most important things as preacher, not something that you really good in preaching...Because life infuses is always better than you speaks thousand word to one person...take cares.

Tools and prep materials are helpful, but not necessary. The only thing that is needed and vital is to be filled with the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ. Jesus said that the comforter will teach and guide you into all things that are of the Father. This my friend, you cannot and will not learn in seminary school. It is a gift of God upon the receiving of the Lord Jesus. God Himself will empower you with the very words that will make a life changing difference in the lives He put in your path should this be His will for you. You must seek the face of God and ask Him what is His true will and purpose for your life. A minister or pastor must be called by the Lord alone. It is not something you just wake up and chose to do in the flesh. It's a high calling to minister to the Lord 24/7, 365 a year. You must be humble and broken and have a heart for the lost, suffering, rejected and brokenhearted just as Jesus did. You must not love anyone or anything else but God, for He is a jealous God. You must seek the desires of His heart and continue to preach the full gospel of Jesus Christ, the cross, calvary, the blood, and His power and authority in Spirit and in Truth. Your passion must never die for the Lord but increase as you, your will and desires decrease. Read the word of God. God will show you revelation after revelation of who He is if you desire it with all your heart. The pure Word of God, the heart of Jesus is revealed in the old testament, but fulfilled in the new. God bless you in your quest to find out the will of God for your life. Should it be a youth minister or preacher, you must separate yourself from the world and unto the Lord in heart, mind and soul, in sincerity and faithfulness. May God direct your paths.

First thing you need to do is pray, the next thing you need to do is go and talk with your pastor. Volunteer in an up and running youth group - this is important - learn how they run, how teens are.
If you haven't gone to seminary - do so. Depending where you live there are many things you can do to begin your journey locally but you need to further your education and study Gods word on a very deep and spiritual level.

Well the first thing you need is a CALLING from God to be a minister. I am an ordained minister so I know what I'm talking about.
Second, you need to study the Word of God in a diligent way and enroll somewhere in Bible courses, preferably in an accredited institution.
Third, you need to pray a great deal and find out God's specific will for your life. Don't guess on your own-depend on God to guide you in every step!
Fourth, do not decide to serve God for the rest of your life. Decide in your heart to love God and know Him better and then the rest of your life you will serve Him out of love with no problem.

Find a good Bible College or Seminary. There are several of them online as well as many ministries that offer specialized training programs. Also find churches online similar to yours and write their pastors and ask them what they had to do to get into the ministry

Has God called you to be a youth minister or pastor?
If so, ask Him what things you need to do. He will lead you to the right books, the right people and He will let you know when it's time to walk in your calling!!!

Prepare your heart first. The heart is treacherous and we cannot trust it. So pray to God for the proper heart condition to teach what the bible really says, not what people perceive it to say. Read 1 Timothy 3: 1- 12. This gives us good guidelines for individuals that want to reach out to be a minster. The majority of Churches don't have ministerial servants and Elders, only Jehovah's witnesses. Speak to one of them, their whole life is based on the preaching work.

I think that you just need to pray and let the Holy Spirit guide you. um...any part of the Bible is great for preaching, but I would pick out the parables of Jesus in Luke becuase they are interesting and hard to understand or the Book of Romans because it speaks of salvation a lot.
