The Bible verses that talk about the second coming of Christ have been corrupted by some to indicate that there will be a secret 'rapture' where Christians simply disappear. This is a false doctrine.

The rapture is what christians are waiting for, the second coming of Christ. They believe that when that happens, the Lord will take all the believers with him to heaven and only the sinners will be left here on earth to live out the final days.

The rapture is not the second coming of Jesus to earth as some have stated. It is the event when people who worship and follow Christ will be taken to Heaven before the great tribulation. According to the Bible, 7 years after this event Jesus physically returns to earth to set up his kingdom for 1000 years. Read 2nd Thessalonians if you have any questions.

Actually there isn't a rapture. Many think this because they misinterpet scriptures..
1. Look at 1Thess.4:16 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a SHOUT, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first."
2. Rev.1:7 "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him; and all kindreds of earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen."
3. 2Peter 3:10 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great Noise, and the elements shall melt with feverent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

The rapture is the event where Jesus takes all believers, dead and alive, off the earth- before the wrath of God starts. Then there will be 7 years of terrible tribulation. Then the second coming of Christ.
