It ain't gonna happen. Settle for five pounds, and concentrate on a knockout outfit and a new hair style.

I would tend to agree with some of the other repliers... 20 pounds is an awful lot to lose in such a short period of time. Why would you want to do something that drastic to yourself?

Also, something else to consider is that you may lose the 20 pounds, but once the event is over you are more than likely going to put on 25 - 30 pounds. So you'll be digging yourself in a deeper hole.

I would recommend that you start a sensible diet and exercising periodically. Your goal should be to get a little muscle going on and drop 5 pounds. This is highly realistic and one that is going to ultimately set you up for lifelong weight control.

There are plenty of suggestions out there on how to lose weight, but I always tell people to watch their food intake (count calories or join a program like Weight Watchers) (use a free website like http://www.fitday.com) and start getting physical -- join a gym. Start jogging. Do something that requires you to take a shower afterwards.

Remember, patience is key in your weight loss efforts. It is not going to happen over night, but it will happen and you'll be rewarded with a slim, healthy and better fit you.

Good luck.

Try a good detox diet high in fiber and vitamins. Keep track of what kinds of things you are ingesting. Don't just eat something because it it "lite" or "diet". Cut pop out completely and replace it with something sweet and acidic like orange or pinapple juice to get rid of that nutty "I NEED MAH POP" feeling. That will knock off 5 lbs right there. Be sure to clean out your cabinets and fridge so that there are no "temptation" foods around for you to sneak. Here's the best detox I know that recently helped a friend of mine knock about 15 lbs.

Morning:
Half a grapefruit with a serving of yogurt
Medium sized glass of juice.
-Or-
Raisin toast and a bowl of bran cereal with a little skim milk.
Medium sized glass of juice.

Snack:
Sweet orange or apple slices
-Or-
A whole grain bagel

Afternoon:
A sandwich on whole grain bread with a couple teaspoons of mustard, turkey, lettuce, and tomato with a glass of ice cold water and some carrots.
-Or-
A salad with a little turkey, cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions. Instead of dressing, lemon juice or vinegar (no oil) and a small glass of juice.

Snack:
A couple rolled peices of turkey with guacamole dip.
-Or-
A small serving of green beans or corn. (Small meaning about half a cup.)

Evening:
Grilled veggies like squash and onions light garlic with a small serving of meat. (Don't cut meat out of your diet. Protien is so good for you. Just eat less of it.)
-Or-
Baked chicken with broccoli and garlic and a croissant.

Any other snacks can be done. Celery is a negative calorie food. Just remember, you want to lose 20 lbs, not waste away 20 lbs. Keep your body healthy when you diet so you won't be exhausted and starving by the end of it. Remember too, a little relapse doesn't mean it's over. :)

What you should do is look for a weight loss program in your local area where you live. Look up in the yellow or white pages, and also you can go into the Yahoo! or Google Search Engines and find a nice Weight Loss Center near you alright.
