Saturns, Hondas and Toyotas have high resale values due to their performance over long periods of time.

You will save money in both the long and short run.. Lets say you have to finance the purchase of a used car from a dealership . First of all lower interst payed due to ususally a shorter term loan. Second of all you will not lose the initial depreciation you would on a new car. But if you buy used you should check with a dealership first most dealerships have had their factory trained mechanics go through ever used car before it was ever put out on the lot..So buying used is a good idea even a progrqam car is an excellent purchase for you and your family.

This question is simple - Toyota. Toyotas outlast juat about everything on the road. The bodies usually wind up rotting off of the frames before the engines give up. I personally have a '91 Corolla DX w/air cond. Since owning this little gem, I've had to replace the driveaxles(both), a coolant crossover hose,an alternator belt and the exhaust.Total parts cost- about 265.00. I purchased the car with 195,500 mi. on it, it now has over 230K. Historically speaking Toyotas also have great resale value even as they age due to the motor/powertrain longevity. I hope this answer isn't too wordy for you, just wanted to give you some insight as to why I feel this way about Toyota.

you get what you pay for.dont buy a 4 cylinder. ive only had 2 in my life. a 6 or 8 is better simply they have more power. i know of too many accidents involving 4s and they dont have the power to get on the freeway when your at a stop and cars are traveling 55mph or faster.also check the milage. 12k to 15k a year is fine but pop the hood and check for oil leakage around the valve covers.if there is oil someone has driven this vehicle hard or they havent kept a mechanic checking it either. if you take it out check under the vehicle for any fluid drips.select a vehicle that has low milage and at least a 24 month warranty.

That depends on a lot. Budget, price range, what the car will be used for... Look for a vehicle that has a manufacturers certified pre-owned warranty. The Japanese companies have been at the tops for reliability for a few years but tend to cost more. This is an opinion question and where we all can give you our 2 cents without the details we could not truly help you.

When you are buying used, how it was driven is at least as important as what it is. When you test drive it - check everything! Even if it's the dead of winter, make sure the AC works and the windows go up and down. Check the oil levels to see if it was maintained. If you buy something with a manual transmission, check how worn the clutch pedal is to get an idea of how it was driven (really worn = possibly riding the clutch). Check body panel spacing to tell if it was in a wreck.

If something is wrong with the car, most likely the person selling it isn't going to tell you - look for it.

In India the service of Maruti Cars is unparalleled. A second hand car will require lots of servicing from time to time. So its better to go for a Maruti model.

what's your budget? i'll give you the two cars i have in mind.. i plan on getting one or the other within the next year or two.. (since most luxury cars lose their value during the first couple of years.. it will be a lot cheaper.. but you don't lose the quality)

2003 mercedes benz E320 or E500
or
2005 bmw 545i

The answer to your question really depends on your price range. I would go with both american and japanese brands for your vehicle if you are looking for a cheaper one. And if you are looking for a European make I would strongly suggest Volvo.
