It has been proven. Is it easier to accept a supernatural explanation than years of scientific evidence.

Bebe is a standup theist. Way to preach the "good word" sweetheart. I have a very meaningful life, thank you.

Calebsmom: You are so wrong. Monkeys are not our predescesors. They are evolving just like we are. We shape a common ancestar with all the great apes, but that is not to say that we evolved from modern apes. Get it?

Evolution by natural selection is a fact.
Farmers and dog breeders use "controlled" selection, which is a form of artificial natural selection, new animal races have been the result of such practices.
Some people seems to be so scared of the term (and the implications they think it might have) that they'd deny it without further considerations. As someone mentioned above, to accept evolution doesn't mean to deny god, unless the foundations of your faith is the literal reading of genesis.

I think you mean that natural selection has been proven in terms of micro evolution that is, variances can occur between members of a species in order to adapt to an environment or other conditions.
Macroevolution, one species evolving into another, has very little indirect evidence to support the idea and most scientists who believe in macroevolution will tell you that they more or less base that belief on the idea that microevolution by natural selection exists.
I'm not quite sure whether or not I'm a believer in macroevolution mainly because i don't know enough about it.
One thing is certain though, if macroevolution does exist, it is just more proof of the wondernous of the creator. How else could such a complex system exists if not by design?

Micro evolution is accepted by all.
Macro evolution is a baseless theory. It has: 1) no evidence of ever having taken place, and 2) no vehicle through which it can occur.
1) In the evolutionary model the fossil record should be rife with transitional life forms, it is not.
2) Citing bacterial mutation is a ridiculous argument. No honest scientist accepts that as a "proof".

Yes, I accept evolution by natural selection as a fact. It has proven as far as any theory can be. There are so many pieces of evidence supporting evolution that even if one or two where proved to be false then you would still face millions of others to disprove, from many different scientific fields.

Actually, mutation/evolution has been observed in thousands of generations of fruit flies, used specifically for doing genetic studies. These insects multiply rapidly and produce many generations in short time spans, making them ideal to see mutation/evolution in action.
Natural selection is but one part of evolutionary theory.
In science, it's not about accepting, it's about presenting sufficient evidence to make an argument to support a viewpoint successfully.
The problem with supernatural explanations/religous explanations, is that they have no physical evidence to support what they say. You can't bang somebody over the head with a Bible to prove that evolution does not occur.
My personal belief? I do believe, as an Orthodox Jew, what the Torah says regarding creation. That is an act of faith on my part. I also believe that G-d put down a world that looks as it does, to show what would have happened if he had just set up a sort of turn-key system. Evolution of large animals would have happened, plate's would have moved to and fro over the earth's surface producing mountain ranges and subduction zones, and everything we see in the natural record of things would have occurred. G-d did not put down Adam as a baby, but as a grown man, and he did not make trees as seedlings, but as mature specimens.

No, evolution is a theory. It is not fact. Yes, for me it is easier to accept that God created the heavens and earth than to believe we all evolved from monkeys. Why do we still have monkey then???

This is really a question of what one beleaves or has been taught. As for me I beleave in what the bible says..Genesis 1:1 "In the begining God created the heavens and the earth". Science is a wonderful thing and the world is better because of it.I also think that this will be a question that will be debated for many more years to come.

How can it be accept as a fact when there is absolutely NO evidence to support it at all? If you go by what it teaches, then it disproves itself, and as such shows that it is not fact but is just pure fiction.
