There are several different types of midwives and each has their own learning path. Lay midwives don't necessarily have any professional certification or training. Licensed midwives are usually certified through their state and have to meet certain training and education requirements. Certified Professional Midwives are nationally certified and also must meet training and education requirements. Certified Nurse Midwives are Registered Nurses who have received additional schooling in midwifery.

been a midwife is hard and you may end up having to travel to another part of the country to do your training i would love to be a midwife but i just ended up having lots of kids instead lol

My ex was studying to become a midwife but she wasn't too sure if she wanted to become one of not. Anyway, she sat in with my sister whilst she was giving birth to my niece.........let's just say she decided from that moment that it wasn't the job for her. I don't know if u have been there at a birth of a baby, but if you ever get the chance, do it. Just to make sure u can handle it!

University, training, more university, working on the wards in each sector of nursing (things might have changed in the last 20 years though.)

Well, I don't know what it takes, but go for it. I'm sure you would be a great comfort to a lot of women and feel very rewarded and satisfied.

that will take a few years of training because that is what i wanted to do. i would advise you to get in contact with your nearest hospital and ask the for some advice.

you'd have to go to colledge into a HE access course for nursing and midwifery for a year and gain two A levels then on to university goodluck
