Hmmm...one person wanted to know why it was important. I'll tell you why. Misspellings (obvious ones, not type-o's) are an indication of a larger problem: A lack of education in this country. Lack of education breeds ignorance and ignorance breeds hate. Do I spell check my entries? You bet! And I read them over before I post. I do that with these silly things and I do it before I send email. I am a firm believer in education and bettering oneself. If more people lived that way, this would be a better world.

Most people who can't spell, also do not read for pleasure. The more you read, the better you spell.

Spelling is like greek to some people; they just don't get it... but I've noticed recently, that most of the misspellings are just laziness and the result of not going through and correcting mistakes while typing. Text messaging can also be a factor in peoples misspellings, people have gotten so used to spelling things like "wer u at" and "r u cming ovr?" I've noticed that some people are actually typing their emails and questions like that also... its like typebonics, and apparently something we must get used to... until they have a "translate this page" from misspelled english to english we're stuck with trying to decipher misspellings.

I believe it is a flaw in the system. Since the "Check Spelling" feature does not look like a button some people don't understand they actually need to click it to fix mistakes.

No, I'm just kidding. People are hooked on phonics and in too much of a rush, they simply don't care enough to check.

I think "Spell Check" should be incorporated directly into the "Preview" and "Submit" button.

Most people don't care about spelling and don't care about the command of the English language. Furthermore, people love to mess up spelling a word by coming up with (what they think is) a creative new way to spell a word. However these people are just messing up our English language and messing up others with their incorrect spelling of words.
If it is a typo, that's fine other than that, NO.
Everyone ask/answers these questions it's the World Wide Web!

People are either lazy or in a hurry when they dash off answers without proofreading them first. I suspect people are also trying to rack up points by contributing useless questions/answers like: "Why can't people learn to spell who ask/answer these silly questions?". Had you taken the time to consider this question, you would have phrased it in a grammatically correct way: "Why can't people who ask/answer these silly questions learn to spell?"

Because we are a generation of Internet chatters. We use web lingo and don't worry about spelling.
Honestly if I say "NE 1 wanna do poker?" do you really not understand that I am looking for a card playing partner? Do I have to say "Pardon me, but can I interest any of you in a rousing game of Texas Hold 'Em?" for you to know what it is I'm asking?

Well, in the part of the answers, nobody bothers to check because they want to make sure they get first answer, if they can. Also, from a points perspective, it's to your advantage to answer as many questions, as fast as you can.
