Some people are already trying to make us aware of global warming by television ads. Here in Ontario, there are commercials that are pointing out that using less electricity is the way to go.
There are neighbourhoods in Canada, the US, and Europe that have installed solar power, and use only electricity or gas heating as backup.
Those big wind mills are great too, they can provide enough electricily for millions of people (considering how many mills you have)
I don't think global warming can be stopped because of the type of world we live in, but it would be nice if everyone can make an effort. But when reality sets in, some people don't care, some people need to use these resources, and other people are not educated enough.
As far as the consequences, we are already living them. All the weather disasters that you see all over the world has some small role to play.
Farmer's crops are too dry to do anyting with, I know it's a big problem up here in Canada.
Also, just the climate where I live in Northern Ontario, there has been a huge change within the last few years. As kids, for example, our parents had to buy our Halloween costumes 2X too big for us in order to wear our snowsuites underneath. Last year I went as a sexy cop with short shorts and a small top and I was fine with just a small fall coat.
I don't think any of us will be around when the big boom happens. I don't think it's for many many many years to come. The word just needs to get out there and people need to act on it.
But hey, that's just my opinion that has been formulated from what I have seen around me.

Global warming is a hoax being perpetrated on the masses by the new socialist movement. If you actively study the weather patterns of the earth back to inception, there are 100 year patterns that develop. We as a populous are unable to emit the gases into the atmosphere to such a level that will alter the temperature of the earth. Livestock exponentially produce methane gas at a level of more than 1000 times what man is capable of producing.

If there was a definitive answer to what was causing it, there might be a good answer to your question. A very respected scientist from Colorado was just published yesterday, speaking about how humans have affected global warming very little, and its just part of the natural global cycle. With all of the conflicting evidence, its very hard for us "normal people" to know what is correct. Unfortunately, everybody seems to flock to one side of the arguement and not pay attention to the other side, which in the end, could cause us a lot of problems, if we are trying to address things which have nothing to do with the cause.

Stop relying on fossil fuels for our energy needs. If we don't, we'll be lucky to make it out of this century.
As for making people aware of the problem, I am going to try to dedicate at least one hour per day to try to reach people like you. It is the least I can do for a very important cause.
Al Gore has chosen to forgo a good chance, at the Presidency, for the cause.
