That is a crock. I am not white and I think that illegals from every country should go home. You are committing a crime by being here. I work everyday and yet I dont have health insurance. I own my own home in a nice neighborhood and have no children in the public school system and yet I pay school taxes. I know plenty of people who are willing to work in construction....it used ot be one of the best jobs to get if you didnt go to college or know another trade.. My Dad worked in that industry for years and raised a family of 8 kids and I had a stay at home Mom. We lived in a great home with an inground pool on 3 acres. The illegals that are working those jobs today cannot live like that. That should be a clue that the homebuilders are not paying wages that they used to. If they were, the jobs would be taken by Americans. If the companies that are hiring illegal help are arrested and have to pay hefty fines, they will no longer hire illegals and then when they cant get work here, they will go home.
As far as Mexican illegals....they need to fix their country and stop looking to America to solve their economic problems. Another country where the rich have everything and the poor have nothing. I feel sorry for them but when things get so bad here for the Americans...where the he** do we go?????

Yes, they should give those that have come here and work hard for many years without the benefits that we as americans receive a change to stay here legally. I have known many Mexicans coming from the state of Texas and I know that they work harder than most people I know, sometimes working two and three jobs to make money so that their families can have a better life. Would most americans work 10 -12 hours in the hot sun for little money and no hope for anything better in the future? Some of these people even have good educations, but still cannot survive in their countries, and therefore, coming here to work in fields. They come across miles and miles of hazardous conditions, not just men, but women and children as well, women of which most of the time end up raped, even so that they take birth control because they know that's the price they have to pay in order to come to the U.S. They have suffered and I think they deserve a chance at a better life and most just want to stay because they love it here so much, they do not want to cause any trouble, just provide for their familes. So let the law pass and give them a chance at happiness and the "AMERICAN DREAM". If the government would have made it less costly and easier for them to be here legal in the first place, I think they would have rather chosen that route and not live in constant fear of being sent back. Already, poor in the first place, how do you suppose that anyone coming from Mexico could afford the fees for filling legally? Give me a break! I hope it passes with flying colors and I hope it passes soon before anyone else that has been here for years gets deported and not allowed back for 10 years.

We already have a good set of immigration laws. The issue of illegal immigration to most is not racist or that we are loosing jobs to illegals. The issue is the laws are being broken to come here and most continue to break many other laws to stay here. Americans that break laws are punished for their actions. Illegals that break the laws will be rewarded by getting a free pass to citizenship and for many benefited by government entitlements
(welfare, health insurance, tax exemptions, and social security) that are supposed to be for disadvantaged Americans. They have not paid taxes or built any equity in the system to be able to deserve these entitlements. (Neither have some natural born Americans but that is a different discussion)

Personally I have seen that many illegals only work here until they have a good amount of money and go home to their countries and live until they need more money. Then they sneak back and work for more. And keep repeating this cycle. They do not want citizenship they just want to make a living. And again they should be able to. But do it legally. Apply for a work visa and come here the proper way. The majority of Americans have no problem with people coming here. We just ask that our laws are respected.

Immigration should be revised, the laws in place don't get enforce, because the companies that profited from illegal immigration are powerful forces that swing congress.
As all have seen in the news, arise from the Abramoff scandal, should know by now, that congress work for the best companies
that can paid the price.
Nafta, it is the # 1. Rules and regulations should be revised before making any immigration laws.
Nafta had drove out of their way of live, more than 10 millions farmers, forcing them to emigrate to big cities, and eventually to migrate to the US.
Wall Marts, around the world, have put out of business, thousands of small business.
Just in the US, every time a wall mart opens their door, dozens of small business close.
If we continue to empoverich, latino countries with our unfair agreedments, either we have a revolution in the south, or we make our econimic and immigration laws more flexible.

The fact that they are illegals doesn't mean there Criminals guys it just means our Immigration policies are old outdated and failed . If there was a better more accessible system there would be NO Illegals , Most people understand what its like to deal with them because they have had to deal with them before, as an employer or spouse or family to a immigrant...It really is a unacceptable system that needs a serious overhaul...Most these Mexicans are nice people and yes i agree they are the work Horse of America , No denying it

Yes, the law should be passed. It has nothing to do with color or ethnicity. It has to do with the law. There are many people that are trying to come to the US-the legal way- to do the same jobs that the illegal immigrants are working now. It's not a matter of filling the jobs that go unfilled by Americans, it's a matter of filling them with people that respect our laws, and our country. If we allow our country to become over ridden with people who break the law (and condone it) than the US will become no better than other lawless countries. It is a privilege to come here, not a right.

You silly ...... Damn u make me angry with that kind of logic. L-eg-a-l immigration good... I-l-l-i-g-a-l immigration bad. We are a big country and we can sure get anything done that needs to be done. Without illegal aliens!! I'm all for immigration. I am Mexican/Anglo my dad came here legally and when I was 14 and an American citizen I worked in the fields I picked peaches hoed weeds in 105 degree heat because my dad thought it would build my character and it did. I am a successful business man now. And sorry I do not hire illegal aliens and get along fine building houses thank you very much.

Yes, the House version should be passed. The Senate version is a complete sell out of the American people to business.

Cheap labor is no reason to destroy the American way of life. Houses were being built long before the current invasion from Mexico. A slight shortage of labor would greatly improve the living conditions of common working people, but it terrorizes the business community

Well, I am immigrant myself, so I might be biased.
However, I truly think we give more to this country than we take.
We take care of your children an elderly. We do the jobs that Americans do not want.
We build houses in the heat and in the cold, we drive long distance trucks, clean your homes, we wash dishes and do landscaping.
And I truly believe, the reason the government does not want the more humane immigration laws passed is simply it is easy to exploit the person that does not have rights.
I believe the illegal immigrants are modern day slaves...

Frankly, if the bill is passed get used to paying five dollars for a head of lettuce. Without Mexican workers to pick the fields you are going to have to pay incredible prices for produce. The Americans are too afraid and lazy to do the really hard manual labor and will not work for the wages paid.
Ditto for beef prices as the best cowboys are the Mexicans.
