The bible does not say that masturbating is a sin. It says lusting after someone you are not married to is a sin. If you are masturbating because you have become aroused by impure thoughts then yes that is a sin. If however you are just releasing tension without the thoughts no sin. If you are married and are feeling the need to masturbate you probably are having some problems, not enough sex with partner or feeding your mind on things other than your partner. If you are away from partner for some time and masturbate to thoughts of them, no sin. We live in a society that is constantly throwing sexual images designed to arouse at us, so we have to recognize them as such and do everything possible to avoid them. This takes beyond human power since Satan is the God of this world and promotes such imagery. We need God's help which we receive through prayer. The power beyond what is normal. For persons who have made it a habit to masturbate to images either on paper, TV, Internet real people, whatever, this can take some time to master. It has been shown though that if you are to turn away from such and feed your mind on other things for 6 weeks this habit can be broken. For married persons it focuses all sexual energy to partner and creates what God intended for them in the first place.

You, know, I'm not really sure. I haven't seen anything in the Bible that mentions it. I know that homosexuality, adultery and pre-marital sex is a sin, but I don't know about mastubation. In the man's case, it is actually necessary at times if he is turned on and then turned down. He needs to release or suffer the pain.

PS: There is a bait shop in Maine outside of Wells that is called the Master Baiter!! Has a big sign on the side of the road advertising it!!

I don't believe so. It does not say in the Bible, "Thou shall not masterbate". However, sexual relations are supposed to be kept between a husband and wife, but sometimes you just have to take care of business. If it is a sin, I'm sure it is the least of your worries. If that's your only sin, then you are way ahead of the rest of us.

Chirstains set their "perfect values" and in order to make people follow them they said they everything they didnt agree with was a sin. They scare people into following their rules by threatening that people will be damned to "hell". It's actually quiet clever, but untrue. Why would god make it feel so good if it was wrong?
Do what you think makes you a good person, and not what other people tell you makes you a good person.

ps. reporting this is not going to make it un-true, you're just cencoring the opposition and that is how christians got so powerful, by killing everyone who disagrees so people are forced to agree!

Yes. Even common language usage tells you that. That is why it is called "self ABUSE". Look up the dictionary definition for "abuse". Since it is a sin that is why you feel guilty when you do it. The Holy Spirit convicts you of your sin and makes you feel guilty.

Who the bloody hell advised you like that? If that is so, every act of fulfilling the body's requirements, like eating, drinking, respirating, urinating, defacating, etc. are to be termed as the sins we commit every day. In fact it is a natural urge which is to be fulfilled to reduce our body's stress. Any natural urge is the God's wish, which you fulfill.

No that is not what the Bible says Stacy R. God was mad because he took advantage of her. He was to give her children and instead withdrew and THAT is why God was angry.

I do not think it is unless you are ruled by it.
