There are many, but sometimes it takes a while to find the right one for you. I really have had good results with Cymbalta, and I tried EVERYTHING!

Yes, I have been on Effexor for a little over a year and it has helped me quite a bit. Each person experiences depression in different ways and for different reasons. It often takes a lot of trial until you find one that works well for you. Even then, adjustments of dosage and frequency may need to be done. Most important is to not stop taking antidepressants without your doctor's guidance and when you are on the medication, take it EVERY day at the same time of the day regardless if you feel fine or not!!! In addition, antidepressants are not miracle drugs, they take time for your body to adjust to. It is quite common not to see any improvement for a good month or two. Working with a therapist when you first begin a medication will help you get past that difficult time of not seeing any improvement right away.

When was the last time you saw your doctor? He or she may be able to effectively help you with this one. Everybody's body is different and every body has their own chemistry. What might work for me, may not work for you and vica versa. What are the anti-depression medications have you taken so far? Make a list of them and write down what side effects you noticed and also write down from a scale from 1-10 (10 being the worst) how effective they were for your depression. Then show your doctor this list and ask him or her what other depression medications can I take that may be more effective with my type of depression.

Doctors are not mind readers, they depend on their patients to tell them what is wrong and how we feel. So tell your doctor all your concerns and show him or her your list.

Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon!
