I stayed in camping. But you can try to find accommodations on:
- vienna.lodgingaustria.com/
- vienna.tiscover.at/
- www.holidaycityeurope.com/viennahotels/
And for sights: http://info.wien.at/article.asp?IDArticle=10063. I think this link is more then enough for information about the city and tours.
Last time I visited I saw: the RING, Schonbrunn, Hundertwasser, Prater, Zoo, Starbucks Cafe (it's delicious), the whole touristic center and Mariahilfer Strasse. I, also, was very impressed about the houses in the city (the normal city, not touristic).
I think you can't be boring in Vienna.

Hotels in Vienna are quite pricy, especially the ones in the city. Although Vienna has a very good public transportation system so you are able to reach the city by subway very fast also from some "cheaper" hotels. The hotel Ibis (***) [Address: Mariahilfergürtel 22-24 AT-1060 Vienna; http://www.ibishotel.com] e.g. would be a good place - clean but very small rooms; perfect infrastructure...

Hofburg - castle
Kartner Strasse - the most expensive yet beautiful city centre street
Stephansdom - the heart of Vienna
Kartner Ring - shows you the 1st district (which is the city center, again, and where Vienna started)
Stadt Park
Stadt Oper - if you have a chance, watch the opera
Spanish Horse Riding School - amazing
Donauturm
The Vienna International Center - the 3rd home of the United Nations
Prater - amusement park (if you're into it)

I'm going for a week there myself - can't wait, counting down days.
I think I'll do all the main attractions first, and then just roam the streets, get off the beaten path.
I am looking forward to the Opera, though - I get to see Chick COrea and the Bavarian Orchestra doing the Spirit of Mozart.
Can you tell I'm excited?

You have to go to "Spittelberg", it's a very nice area near "Mariahilferstrasse". And you must see Vienna from above! The best places therefor are "Cobenzl" and "Kahlenberg"!
