What does beer do for your hair if you soak it in it?

Beer conditions hair, makes it soft and shiney. I have a friend who SWEARS by beer conditioner.

DONT SOAK IN IT USE IT AS A CONDITIONER. LET IT STAY IN YOUR HAIR FOR 2-5 MINUTES AND RINSE. I USUALLY USE BEER WITH A CHEAP CONDITIONER THAT HAS A NICE AROMA TO IT.
