It's like a death. You grieve and eventually you move on.
Time heals all wounds.
One day you will look back and it won't hurt as much. Just keep busy, get out and be with people so you won't get as depressed.

If it's a real or true love, you don't get over it right away. it takes time before you can fully forgive and forget someone that you had deep feelings for. It's the same with your first love, it never dies but fades away. Maybe for several months you have been crying over a breakup with a loved one then suddenly one day you wake up and find that it doesn't hurt that much anymore. Experiencing pain over a loved one is a learning experience for everyone of us. As they say, it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

I think u have 2 cry it out, then focus on yourself 100%. It takes a real change in attitude cuz when ur in love all u do is focus on that person and when things end u have a void in your life. u have 2 learn how 2 put your self 1st and be careful not to jump into another relationship 2 fast. Love hurts no doubt but in time the heart heals itself just like every other organ in the body.

Only time can help. To say that you will ever actually be over them...well I do not know if that is possible. This person was a major part of your life and you will always have a special place for them in your heart. However with time and by going through the grieving process you will be able to carry on and go through your normal daily things without such pain. And someday you will even be ready to love again.

I only clicked to see what everyone else answered because I want to know myself. Like the loss of a loved one I suppose only time and friends will help you through it. I wish they would invent a drug that erases the heart ache because I know so many people who are scared of getting into a relationship because they cant face the anxiety of a broken heart. It bloody hurts! But as the saying goes its better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

First, let's define real love: patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, it is not proud, not rude, not self-seeking, not easily angered, keeps no records of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres; it never fails...is this your real love? I'm no expert in getting over real love, but I know that if it's not meant for us, then we must try a little harder to turn away from it...you'll find another real love, I promise!

Well lets say I was in love...real love and he just acted like a little boy. He didn't really know how to show his feels aww its a long story. But I had to put this rollercoaster ride to an end so i called it off. I had to tell my self to stop calling him and I kept my self occupied with other things. One of them was like really moving on and i started to talk to other guys and i ended up meeting a guy i really liked and it made me really know that it was over between me and my love......

i dont know. maybe you never can. i think somebody you have truly been in love with will always be in your heart and you will always love them, but not be in love with them anymore. as for the pain thing, i think it just takes a long time, friends are the best way to help you after a long serious relationship breaks up.

I got over my ex by starting to do things she never enjoyed doing with me. I took up hobbies and kept myself busy by spending more time with friends. That in itself numbed the depression part of it.
