Get a can with a tight or locking lid? Tell you your neighbors to keep their dogs home (as they should)? Call animal control and have the dogs picked up?

First I would talk to your neighbors about the dogs running loose in the neighborhood. Then take an empty spray bottle & fill it with amonia - spray the trash bags with the amonia and the dogs should leave it alone. Or better yet, buy some tall plastic garbage cans with locking lids.

Hi,

Get a good quality trash can with a locking lid. You can get these in different sizes and made of different kinds of materials (plastic, steel, etc.). Or you can build a box with rather high sides to put your trash bags in, but this won't work as well as cans with lids because a lot of dogs would be able to jump in the box.

Actually, dogs do not have that good of sense of taste.. Smell yes, taste no.. That is why very bitter things work so well.. Get bitter apple, its just nasty and they hate it.

Bunjie cords for a tighter hold on the lid helps as well, then spray down well with bitter apple.. Don't use pepper because they can inhale and it can kill them.

I would also talk to the owners about it if you know who they are. There is another spray out there, you can get at petsmart, I am sorry I forgot the name, but it's all natural, and it has cyan(sp?) pepper it it, they get one whiff of that and they wont touch the can..

Keep dogs, maggots, and flies out of trash cans. Coat the trash cans with a thin layer of WD-40.

I have heard from experts , and this will work also on deer eating up gardens, sprinkle some pepper around the area of your garbage can and on the bag, the animals have a tremdous since of taste and memory and won't return some where they have received a bad experience , especially a food sence. And for gardeners, sprinkle pepper along the perimeter of your garden and you will find out that the deer will quiite coming around and eating your small buds before they get a chance to grow

There is a spray sold at Wal-Mart that keeps pets from chewing on things. It will also keep them from your trash. Get a can of it today and watch your problems fall away.

Take an empty spray bottle and put ammonia in it. Spray the bottom of the plastic bags with the ammonia as they are placed on the curb and the dogs will not touch it.
