What would happen if everyone believed in the same thing. Would we still have war? because I know a lot of Wars start over religion and what each others bible says about what is rightfully theirs. So if we all believed in the same bible and whatever, would we stop fighting? or is it in our nature to fight anyway, and we'd just find something different to fight over?

There would be good and bad things that could come from this. First, if we all believed in the same religion that would stop the religious wars. It would not stop the wars over money or even terrorism though... Terrorists are not always religious fanatics; they are sometimes trying to right some wrong done to some thing they believe in, and be it personal, financial, or ethical.

I.E. - the war on terror.

As long as there is money or upper-class / lower class there will always be strife either internally or externally to a nation. Take a look at the first two WW and Vietnam. Vietnam was not fought over religion, but over economics among other things.

I read somewhere that humanity was made for fighting, here is what I believe, the human race was designed for survival and any time that you have a large number of people that believe there is some threat to that survival there will be those that stand up in front of a throng of people to Heat the flames, if you will, to do harm or carry out a some alleged revenge.

So after all that I believe that "no" fighting will not stop by every one believing in the same maker. I believe that we are such territorial beings that at some time there will be a fight.

I hoped this helped.

Their would probably be less wars over beliefs. But life would be boring and bland. In addition people would still suffer under a society of one belief. Ever have a class or a subject in school that you just couldn’t get? In the whole scope of boundless life one belief cannot encompass all types life. Under one belief system someone will chafe. In addition to this what would happen to our societies advancements. What if the Catholic religion was the only belief in the days of Galileo? Would we still believe that earth is the center of the solar system?

Lastly, often it isn’t an average believer that starts a war. It’s the rich and powerful that use religion as an excuse to start wars.

Good question, Carrie, even if a little naive. "Is it in our nature to fight?" I've thought about this both ways before and come to different conclusions. If you look at babies...is it natural for a baby to fight? I don't think so; I think it is a learned response to the environment and society, resulting from innate human "free will." (i.e. our desires). Infants don't know much...they don't know about religious differences, racial differences, even gender differences; About all a baby "knows" is eating, sleeping, laughing, crying, touching, smiling, and most bodily functions. And yet, one of the first things a child learns is possession...."Mine!" Then we have to be taught to share. A child learns most by observation, thus we all wind up with the prejudices, beliefs, whatever of our parents, families, and friends. Every "Bible," religious doctrine, or belief system makes the claim of divine inspiration whether from God, Allah, Buddha, or whomever, yet they have almost all been copied down by a man, a few by a woman. So, which one is the "right" path? I don't think there is a "right" one, and I certainly don't think there is any doctrine in the world worth dying for. I kind of think that we are all on our own different path, and then when our paths intersect is when we experience conflict, and the only answer I've been able to come up with to avoid those conflicts is to learn and teach tolerance. Sadly, that is not human nature after we learn to say "mine!"

You make a good point with your question. There are many books that different people read. Some are considered holy by their readers. But, there is only one Bible. There are different translations: several in English, Spanish, German, and so on. But only one Bible. If everyone believed in this one Bible-I believe there would be no war. As a matter of fact-the Bible does predict that very scenario.

I believe that humans will never all believe the same thing.
There are to many variables out there. Lets now just say IF we all did believe in the same thing for a while, believe in the same religion and god , it would only be a matter of time before we found something else to fight about..
Its in humans nature to destroy each other as sad as it is.

We would still be at war. I remember seeing a report on an Iraqi citizen a few months ago. She thinks that this conflict has nothing to do with religion, but a hatred between social differences. She says that most Americans view the people in Iraq as dirty, evil, uneducated, poverty-stricken people. And most Iraqis see Americans as rich, close-minded, jerks who can't accept other cultures all over the world for what they are. I thought she had a good argument in my opinion.

If belief in God were removed - mankind still would be at each others throats.

Bad guys would be taking advantage, bullying and killing to build a power base of rulership (thuggery) while the pacifists would die and be brutalized - and the third group would fight and kill to keep from being killed and abused.

War and murder and the like is not about religion - they just use it as an excuses. For example.., Jesus taught peace, love and forgiveness. The early Roman Catholic church had men who sought power - and used Christianity (Their own brand of Christianity) to achieve that end by threatening, killing and imprisonment - not even remotely what Jesus taught. Not that Christianity was evil - but the men who commandeered it.

It is not in our nature to fight. None of you can prove that either.
It is however in our nature to survive. That is why most people automatically move their hand away from a hot stove or protect ourselves against a physical attack.

The belief that it is in our nature to argue or fight it the result of years of conditioning and enviroment.

Think about it...Look at a new baby all they have is love.
Do you really think a baby has or even knows about arguing or fighting?
This comes later based on their exposure and conditioning.

We are being conditioned everyday by our parents, government, television, our bad choices and other peoples opinions and reactions. More and more people fail to take responsibility for their own actions. We tend to react instead.

Ever been around someone who is just happy or smiling all the time?
It rubs off on us. Or for some, they REACT badly to them because they don't like it, when in reality, it is us who wants what they have, so because we don't know or have forgotten how to feel that way we attack them or thier ideology.

This is in essence what has happened to the worlds religons and has been going on for several millinea.

A very real human nature want is LOVE. We all want it. We all want to give it but most of us have forgotten how or have decided they don't want it or need it. DUE TO CONDITIONING.
It's a shame really.
I believe the people who are in that position want it and need it most and if they are true to themselves, they will admit they do

Turn to yourself and realize your true self.

We'd still fight over the bible, because everyone interprets it differently. It's our nature to sit around arguing over our own ignorance.

We will never stop fighting with one another .It is true that there would be less wars if we all believed in one thing .
There still would be racism ,culture differences and dislike within the classes of people .
Utopia is only a concept and never will be a reality.
